Hey there! I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from. The exact thing kept happening to me, and I had NO idea what the heck was happening. I didn't realize until later that it was the result of overprocessing my relaxer. Trust me...stop relaxing that area, and you'll see the results of your hard work. Also, make sure that you keep that area properly moisturized at all times. Whenever I wore my hair in a ponytail that area was too short to put in the ponytail. Since that area was so short, I would braid it in a cornrow going across and use hair pins to pin it up with the rest of my hair. This would help keep me from putting extra stress in that area.
As far as products that I used, I started off using Parnevu (sp) moisturizers, and then glycerin and water to moisturize that area, and I would seal it with castor oil. Also, I tried using MN for about 2 months, and I got good results with that.
Since I was already transitioning, other parts of my head had new growth so it wasn't only my nape. I usually kept it in a weave, so I didn't have to worry about blending that area.
I hope this helps some. Let me know if you have any other questions. I can't wait to see your great results!

Ediese,
I also suffer from a overprocessed nape... Mines is terrible. I permed my hair on September 17 after finally growing about an inche of hair in the nape area. And about a week ago I realized that im bald in the nape area on the left side. I soooo want to scream. it seems like everytime I grow some hair back there it breaks completely off again. You are my motivation girl. I feel like I will eventually grow my nape long enough so that I will be able to wear my hair up. I thought by me perming that area last it will stop breaking. Since this isnt working I guess im going to have to STOP PERMING IT COMPLETELY...
My questions to you is what products did you use on your nape?
And how did you maintain you nape not being perm while the rest of your hair was permed?
Do you think you will ever perm your nape again?
