On my calendar!:)
Thanks for posting the first thread. Sometime after that I saw TV on how they updated their site with clippings and flyers.

I saw it Friday and loved it. It is so nice to see GOd's word put on screen especially with one of my favorite books. I hope they do Song of Solomon next. This movie was excellent I am going to see it again this week. Tell everybody to go see it a true story of love, destiny and purpose in GOd.

I saw it this afternoon after church.... My goodness.... This movie gave me hope on both a spiritual and natural level about the providence and the orchestration of God.... Go see this movie!

I saw it this weekend as well and really love the story!!! I would buy the DVD to add to my slow growing collection ;)

It is still playing in our area please if it is in your area please tell others promote it as much as possible. I have seen it 5 times.

We just saw it last night. I guess I'm in the minority, it was just alright.:(

Maybe I was just annoyed since the people behind us decided to talk through the ENTIRE movie.

That's really messed up... I hate it when people talk through movies at the theatre....

It's one thing to be at home-- hubby and I do it all the time-- but out in public is another thing.

Anyway I guess I liked it because of the way that the story was woven together. I thought to myself-- "yeah, it could have happened that way."

And I loved the whole back story. I loved seeing what Hadassah's life was like before being Queen Esther. The romance that developed was beautiful. There was humor and action... As a whole I thought the cast and crew did a great job taking into the movie and making me believe them...

But then again, I still haven't read the book... I'd like to and see how the two compare.

The book is great and I hope the movie is great also. I'm taking tom off from work and driving two hours to see it and two hours back. So it better be great.

Yesturday I drove two hours in the rain to see this movie. I was very disappointed, I was nothing like the book. I felt as though they missed out on some critical points. They should have focus more on Ester's relationship with Jesse and Xeres. I didn't like the way they insinuated Ester having an affair at the lover gate and her catching/hearing, what she thought was Xeres with another woman. The list goes on. Maybe had I not read the book twice, I would not have had such high expectations of this movie. Don't get me wrong, it was an OK movie. But I expected more. The I also felt the main charater should have been more attractive.

When you refer to the book, your talking about Hadassah by Tommy Tenney right? Not the biblical book of Esther. While I'll agree the movie was ok, I did enjoy seeing the account of Esther brought to the big screen. I actually thought the king was quite attractive. Are you going to read the Hadassah Covenant, the sequel to Hadassah?

yes, I'm referring to the book by Tenney. I will be picking up the Hadassah Covenant soon.

I though the king looked ok from the neck down but those eyes were weird.

I'm sorry that the movie wasn't worth your two-hour trip. That's a long way to go to be disappointed. I liked the movie a lot, and I know I had to suspend somewhat to enjoy the movie. I do not recall reading about Jesse (was that Esther's "love" interest who became a eunuch involuntarily?)

What was profound for me was the overarching point of PROTOCOL. Everything was about protocal in their environment yet Jesus came and DEMOLISHED all protocol, just as Esther did in her fight to save her people. Getting that message made the movie worth it for me....

I'm getting the DVD....

I the book by Tenney is says that Ester had come to see Jessie as her husband not some boy who bother her all the time. Yes he was the eunuch. Also I didn't think the movie flowed well, it was sort of choppy to me.

It's been a minute since I've read the book and I need to read it again.... I agree that it could have been better edited.... Know that I forgave A LOT in terms of film quality because I was SO GRATEFUL of the feature film of my favorite biblical book/story/character....

OT: But have you read Beloved Leah by Cynthia Davis. I love this book and I've read it several times.

Remember this was not just a movie but a prohecy and based on the Book of Esther in the Bible!!
This is only my opinion and feedback on your comments about the movie in seeing it 5 times.

Your Comment -I was very disappointed, I was nothing like the book. I know you know this but it is very hard escepially for me being a writer to put certain things that is in print on the screen; I have the book too. I know they are trying to make a movie out of "Purpose Driven Life" book and is having a hard time. The movie was mainly based on the Bible version Esther and they got it down. It was true to the word of God.

Your Comment -...didn't like the way they insinuated Ester having an affair at the lover gate and her catching/hearing
I think this happen because he knew his last wife did not really love him and he was still hurting from that. Also this was still the beginning of their marriage and most of who are marry will say their insecurites are very high. Also, the King put himself down several times because he was insecure with himself and the people he had working around him. I think he tested her love for him the best he know how immature but was all he knew when he had her think he was with someone else. Basically what I think on that is if she would have slept with him without showing hurt about him being with another woman then it would have proved that her love for him was not strong. I know it was childish but people actually do strange things to test each others love.

Your Comment - I also felt the main charater should have been more attractive. This is the part of the movie I loved the most that they were not overly attactive but average people. I thought both the queen and king were beautiful and attractive but not so much that the emphasis was on beauty. What I love the most about Esther is that she was given the image of substance and not just beauty. Esther could talk, read and she loved God and knew the scriptures. The empahsis here is she ordinary oprhan girl that God used who had more than just beauty. This is something I have been trying to give my young women I teach in my workshops that it is more to them than lips, hips and fingertips. Having substance and beauty is a great combination.

I am going to be buy the DVD and would like to buy one for you. I had to see the movie several times to really capture the essence. I love and have read the book of Esther many times it has been the book I lived my life around esepcailly since I grew up as an oprhan that God can use me inspite of.

I still glad you saw and supported it the producers were Christians and I know God used them to bring this about so Hollywood would know that we like to see movies like this. I am hoping that the life of Joseph, Josuha and Song of Solomon from the Bible will one day come to the big screen too.

God bless and thanks for sharing. I will be buying alot of DVD's for people who want to see a movie of hope, love and destiny a true story recorded in the Holy Bible.

Thanks for sharing!!!

I forgot to mention that there were two books Tenney wrote:

Title - One Knight With the King
Title - Haddash

Since the movie was based on Tenny book "Hadassah: One Night With the King" it should have followed that, IMO.

And while I think it somewhat follows the Biblical version I found several inconsistences, the Bible never mentions Jesse or his Grandmother Rachel or Esther feelings for the King but it does say how Haman begged for his life which was not address properly in the movie. He pleas for his life, in the movie, mockingly and the list goes on.

This was an OK movie but I don't want to see it again. I will continue to support Christian movies that come to the bid screen.
