D@mn! I really feel sorry for her and I also have had bad salon experiences involving relaxers.

She can probably get a corrective relaxer for her roots but I dunno what she can do about the matting, she may have to cut her hair.:nono:

ETA: Ok I just finished watching he video and she DID have to cut her hair! She says that she had to cut so much and that her hair is so uneven that she may have to big chop. Seriously I wish she had put that "stylist" on blast. I really do.

Oh my goodness :nono:!!! I feel so bad for her. How in the world do you go to a licensed professional and get your hair butchered like that?? My mom is relaxed and she can't find a good stylist for anything in the world. Now that weave is in high demand and where the money is, stylists can barely rollerset, do touch ups and give cuts :nono:.

Although I didn't get knots like that, my relaxed hair would mat up like crazy when water hit it. My natural hair never did that, so it was strange, and it scared me :nono:.

I would have suggested that she get some super slippery condish and detangle the knots, slowly, one at a time, but she already chopped them out. It would probably be best for her to cut her hair to even it out, and consider self-relaxing from here on out.

Wow i shed a tear when i saw the cut out matted hair. I had a similar matting of the hair when i was relaxed. Nothing could take them out.

i would shave it off and start all over. as knowledgeable as she seems about hair im shocked that she doesnt self relax. that lady screwed her hair up big time

I can't believe that stylist had the nerve to ask for payment after she butchered that woman's hair! She's lucky she didn't get her butt kicked!

wow..i had somethig similar happen to me...but i did it to myself lol. im not good at puttin my own touchupss in :nono:
she has to go in tlc baby mode now. i feel for her. hopefully she doesnt have to cut it all off.

Oh noooooo! I can't believe she actually paid her! I feel sooo bad for her.

She needs to put this stylist on blast! Call her a** out and write a complaint to the State Board of Cosmetology with pics included!

Idk if she should big chop. She still has a good amount of hair left. She should wait until she is not emotional about it then really assess the damage.

My hair tangles like that and when it does I literally sit with a needle and detangler each knot out and only cut out the ones which are undetanglerable. But those are a small percentage. A few of the ones she showed the camera I could have got out for her . Patience is key.

That was disturbing. I would have exploded in that salon! Ten years ago I would have kept my poise and not said anything. Today...baby! I would have made a scene!

1) First of all, she doesn't even need a relaxer. Some ppl may be insulted by this statement but ppl with 3a - 4a type curls dont need to relax...imo

2) As knowledgable as she is about her hair and how to grow it healthy, she should have researched how to self relax

3) The longer you stretch the more difficult it will be to find someone willing AND able to do your hair properly

4) most of those knots could have been removed without cutting. If you dont have patience and time for your own hair what makes you think someone else will just bc you paid them? Most stylists only budget a certain amount of time for a particular service. (Time is $$$). If your hair requires more (esp due to something you decided to do ie., stretch for 16 weeks; they are prob going to rush through the rest of your service once they realize that they've gone over the allotted time.

I LOVE this HHJ!!

She should just consider going natural. Sounds like it was the long length that kept her from bc'ing anyway. I am very leery of stylists now even those that profess to do natural hair. I don't need a stylist to wash, detangle, moisturize and style my hair.

I am surprised she's relaxing, but I know some people prefer it despite the hair type.

There were so many red flags that she chose to ignore. I do feel bad for her though.

Why did she pay her? Why!?

^^^^^^That's what I'm saying.

One. I'm not paying her. Or I'm getting a receipt for payment ONLY TO DOCUMENT I WAS AT HER SALON AS EVIDENCE FOR THE COURT CASE.

Two. I'm cutting the knots and letting my hair grow out. Ain't no big chop....uh uh. No.

Three. I'm suing her in small claims court. For sure!

Four. That stylist had better pray she doesn't see me on the street because Jesus himself couldn't keep me from sending her home to be with Him ahead of schedule if she so much as crossed the street at the same time as me. Nope...not....nada...!

Five. I might have called the police on her. Seriously......That is assault with a chemical weapon, in my eyes.

I don't follow her and don't know her natural texture but understand that she prefers to relax. Natural hair takes a lot of work and a lot of women prefer to spend their time on other things. It's a personal decision whether or not to relax. Not everyone wants to deal with having their hair look different from day to day depending on the weather.

I'm not sure I would have chopped it off. I probably would have put it in a bun until I had time to detangle with a bit of Cowboy Magic.

She really needed to speak up at the salon and not let it get that far. I've walked out of the salon with wet hair (not relaxer). It took me a long time of dealing with crappy stylist to walk out on them. We are all in charge of our own hair and need to speak up when something isn't right.

I've paid every time a stylist has messed up my hair to avoid confrontation. The one time I didn't pay it escalated into a physical brawl, literally a brawl with several people engaged in the chaos. I truly applaud her for not losing her cool and emphasize with her experience. I seldom go to salons now because I'm too traumatized by previous experiences.

She needs to put the stylist and salon on blast so no one else has to endure what she did. I can't see as an owner how you could let a customer walk out like that. I can recall a couple of times I've expressed displeasure the owner has offer to do my hair over or give me a discount. Most of the times you really just want to leave and go home. The damage is usually done. I think in her case most of the hair could have been savage if someone more experienced intervened. I HATE cutting my hair and would have literally cried to cut so much off. I'm a slow grower so 3-5inches is a years worth of retention for me.
