OMG, OMG I have a feel good story.

About 3 weeks ago I was at the health club with my client, when a lady came up to me and asked about my cornrows. She wanted to know if she can do them with bald spots. Well, you know I had to school her about, taking care of relaxed hair, heat, moisture, detangling, and this forum. We decided she should do 8 braids(no cornrows), wash/condition, get Rogaine and to wear a wig for the next few months. I also told her to look at YouTube videos and to educate herself by becoming a member here.

She thanked me and left the club and then all of a sudden an older gentlemen on a machine beside me said, "Can you help my lady?" He went to get her and she told me that she goes to the shop once a week because her boyfriend likes straight hair. I gave her the same hair regimen, I gave to the first lady. She told her boyfriend, "I told you that was too much heat for my head". They also thanked me and I continued with my workout.

Today I was at the health club and I was walking by and that gentlemen said to his friend, "That's the lady who helped my girlfriend". I didn't recognize him and I was wondering how the ladies were doing. He said, " I just wanted to thank you because after 2 weeks, my girlfriends hair looks much better".
She's doing exactly what you said and her hair is thickening up and has a shine to it. He went on to tell me that her hairdresser said, "Girl, where have you been? You better get in here before your hair starts falling out".
We both had a good laugh.

I'm telling you ladies that made my day.

I love stories like that! I get asked about how to care for hair from all types of people. It feels good and a testament to how well your hair looks.

This is a great story. I hope more people are able to spread better ways to take care of our hair as well as you have. Sooner or later it's possible to become common knowledge. Well at least I hope so.

Great story.

The part about the hairdresser's lie that his girlfriend's hair would fall out- hits close to home.

Many hairdressers are the reason why black women's hair stays looking sheisty.

That's nice of you to share your knowledge and not be selfish. Some women would've given a shallow version of what you said, or maybe nothing at all.

UPDATE:

I saw the lady I helped today and she was gushing over her hair. She said her bald spots were filling in from Rogaine and her hair is shiny and healthy. I asked if her if she is still going to her beautician and she said, no she was just wearing her wig and will do a professional roller set for the holidays. Her beautician is pissed that I helped her and said, I wasn't a professional hairdresser and didn't know what I was talking about.

OMG thats awesome!!
Great to see that they actually took your advise to heart. Thats the biggest obstacle when giving advice. Most people let it in one ear and out the other..
:yep:
Good for you!! & good for them!!

Awesome story! I like that we feel comfortable enough to share our knowledge/success with others. Some people don't like to share, so this is good.:spinning:

That's sooo true. My sis in law would always ask me for advice but never use them. I wish she would cause her hair is a crunchy, ratchett mess
