Hi everyone

I was a member of this forum quite a while ago and have recently deceided to rejoin. I apprecaited all the information and support I received during my time here. Ok, let me update you:

I am 4a/b with relaxed or should i say texlaxed mid back hair. I have been through quite a rough journey and am at a point where I am just not sure what to do with my hair. To cut a long story short, my hair was doing very well (I was strictly rollersetting with a hooded dryer for a while) until I deceided to use the Aphogee treatment. My hair became very frizzy in some sections and was thus very difficult to manage. I deceided to change from a no-lye relaxer to a lye relaxer because the no-lye relaxer would make my hair tangle somewhat. I read that you could apply a lye relaxer over a no-lye relaxer and so I did in an attampt to correct the frizzy sections. I used Motions Salons Herbal line and have been using it for about 1 year now. It has slowly dawned on me that this relaxer has not only underprocessed my new growth but has somehow managed to underprocess my previously relaxed hair!

I am finding it quite difficult to deal with my texlaxed hair, it doesn't rollerset perfectly straight anymore unless I use a creamy leave in and there is normally still some frizzy sections.

My main question is how to deal with this type of hair, only about 3 inches from the ends are perfectly straight and I was use to bone straight hair. I would really like to hear your comments, especially from those in a similar situation. Thank you so much and I look forward to learning much more from you all.

Feel free to look at my photos, I have 2 albums and will be updating in the new year.

Welocme back.

My experience has been that texturized hair starts to revert after a few months. I've done correctives for that. I'm guessing the Aphogee did this to your hair. I never use a protein treatment which is that strong.

Hi Welcome back!!

I haven't had this problem, but I do have various different textures in some parts from underprocessing on some touch up applications (not because of the relaxer, but because of the application itself). Anyway, if I were you I wouldn't apply anymore relaxer to the previously relaxed hair. You may have to transition to a new texture with your next relaxer applicaiton and deal with the varying textures until they grow out and you can cut them off. Do you want your hair to be bone straight from the relaxer?? Perhaps that brand of relaxer isn't the one for you. I use Affirm have been using it for years and love it. Perhaps a good flat iron (I use CHI) will help give you that bone straight look, just don't over use it.

I hope this helps :)

I have recently resorted to flat ironing the roots and about 1 inch of hair at the beginning of the head when I finished my rollerset. I wash my hair once every two weeks so it hasn't caused any damage and does make dry combing a bit easier. I dont really want to use the flat iron however becasue I haven't used direct heat for so long. I am just coming to terms with the fact that I now have different hair needs and need to find alternative ways to deal with it.

In regards to a new relaxer, Im quite scared to try anything else becasue of the mishaps I've had with this one. Also, this fizzy texture is all over my hair, apart from the bottom so I would basically have to do a BC or transition out of it which would take ages. Thanks.
