Ok I started a thread yesterday regarding heat straightening with just natural oils. I am clueless when it comes to using heat protectants because I have never used one. After doing a search and calling the bss near me I am going to purchase the fantasia ic (pink one) heat protectant. One thing how do I apply this. Heres what i planned on doing. First the usual wash deep condition. Next as my leave in I use Jessicurl Weekly Deep Treatment the add a little natural oil either oyin burnt sugar or JBCO do large twists and let air dry. After air dryingbrush out the twists(I am skipping the blow drying want to eliminate as much heat as I can) add the heat protectant to small sections before I flat iron. I know you are not suppose to add oil and flat iron but I feel like my hair will be kinda dry with just leave in and heat protectant. If i add the heat protectant will that be ok considering i am using natural oils?
Please ladies I am so clueless on this heat protecting thing and how to apply its not even funny. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

You are running a risk with the oil.
If you feel like your hair is dry even after a DC, you should try a rich moisturizing conditioner with a steam treatment. After that I add the leave in on wet hair and do the tension blowdry method (fully described by Pink Skates) on the coldest setting. Then I add heat protectant. If you want a sleeker look, you can do the Saran Wrap method after you lightly oil your hair.

I don't know the answer to your question but I think that the less product you use the better for swangin, light, bouncy hair. I especially think the JBCO would be heavy. You can always add some oil after you straighten if you feel it really needs it.
