I think my hair will respond better *after* my relaxer because right now the powders are making my hair hard. However, the oils are fantastic for my NG. I shikakai oil on the scalp and alma/coconut oil on the hair.

I've also been experimenting with Keshavardhini (sp?) oil. It's supposed to be yet another great oil for growth. It says to mix with 100 ml of coconut oil.

Also trying out Mahabhringrai and Bhringrai oils, both good again for preventing shedding, keeping the hair dark, fighting dandruff, and growth.

I just need help with these powders. I guess I'll have to keep experimenting until I find what works best for me. I thought about mixing the powders with the Shikakai/Alma/Reetha shampoo I got from the Indian market early this year. Don't know why I stopped using it. I really liked it. :yep:

Maybe you need more water in your powders :yep:

Has anyone tried any of these oil as part of a skincare regimen?

I caught myself putting the Shi/Amla oil on my face last night.

Anyone use oils on their skin?

So you only shampoo once a month, hon?

What is aritha? Is that another oil?

Making some serious notes!

Thanks for all your advice, Candy... and to the rest of you ;)

CandyC,

I just ordered 4 oz samples of avococo creme, lotion, and shikakhai mix. I've read through your other thread on using the shikakhai mix as shampoo and I can't see myself rinsing under the showere for so long. Do you think massaging a cheap conditioner throughout my hair would help the mix wash out quicker?

Not surprised you like it.
I have been using amla and brahmi rinse since september, using this biweekly my hair is strong and soft, less breakage as well.

I have ditch weekly protein tx, will be using protein only pre relaxer and mid relaxer thats it.
may try washing my hair with aritha instead of shampoo and see how it goes.
anyway happy growing.

To make your shikakai/alma/aritha/neem etc. rinses, are ya'll using distilled water?

Are ya'll heating the water, any?

That's the other thing I found. When I added the powders to the water, they clumped and settled at the bottom. How would I address this?

i love how u worded that...

by stirring vigourously!!

it happenes to me sometimes, sometimes i leave the residue, pour some shiwer water in the tub and pour over my head some more

i usually use kettle water in my mixes and tap water

Hey Candy, have you heard of or tried the Indian Head Bath? I posted a thread about it a few min ago, but I'm curious in to finding out how the regimen works...

Yeah, I want to know about this. Something about dunking the head in coconut oil. One of the members posted it and talked about one of their roommates doing this. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

So far, I'm oiling and scritching/massaging my scalp nightly, sometimes twice daily if it's looks dry. I was using coconut oil to seal, now I'm using it for a prepoo and just incorporated a warm towel massage before pooing with diluted herbal poo, follow with diluted herbal condish for a leave in.

I haven't graduated to powders yet, mainly because I'm in twists and I fear having it trapped in my hair. I sit under a warm dryer after the scalp massage for about 10 minutes, then baggy overnight. Oh, one other thing is I found this Bronner Brothers growth/moisturizing lotion that has, among other yummy ingredients, AMLA in it:grin: and I slather that on my twists every day. I take a bhringraj supp 2x daily along with my msm, biotin, and multi with iron.

I still dc 2x a week, once with LeKair and the other time with ORS RP. KISS is not in my vocabulary:spinning:

 Well look at my Memphis buddy showin off! You got you growin thang on girl! AND YES! you threw KISS out the window!

Hey Candy C. I have order some of your product and I am on pins and needles waiting. I have read some of your tips. I know that it is recommended to not comb your hair after you air dry so how would I style my hair. I work through the week and some weekends. Do you finger comb, bun or what. I can't go to work with my hair hanging straight back, plus I want to protect my ends.

By the way I love what you are doing and you really are helping alot of people. PM me or reply at your earliest convience.

:dance7:
