Hi Ladies!

This will be our official thread for checking in, encouragement, ranting, raving, and the like.

Anyone who'd like to join is welcome!

hey ladies!!

im aiming for 3-4 inches. Roughly 1 inch or a bit less a month. . .im thinking thats somewhat reasonable..lol somewhat..:look: ima make it happen tho..lol

i got my maximum growth challenge to push me to retain those inches, ive got my baggie challenge to help me retain growth and moisture too! lol ima get there! :perplexed:grin:

I wouldnt mind 10 inches by December:grin: ..... but I will settle for 3 inches:look:

I have been tempted to take my braids out immediately and get a touch up. Im a little disappointed in myself because I was so enthusiastic about stretching. Im almost 8 weeks post. To make things worse I have some relaxer left over and it stares at me whenever Im reaching for my braid spray:perplexed . I hope I wake up tomorrow and feel that enthusiasim again.

Ladies,

Why are you doing this to me. I am SO tempted. I am currently 8 weeks post-relaxer and I am not having any problems all at. I usually relax at 12

Can you just remind of the benefits of stretching till christmas. That will make me 28 weeks post relaxer. Thats a long time. Will I be doing for harm than good. Pls share your stretching experiences with me.

Help a sister out. I would love to see my hair after 28 weeks

I was originally going to stretch until Thanksgiving, but what's another month? . My hair does so well when I stretch for 4 months+, so hopefully this stretch can bring me to armpit length. So far, I'm at 10 weeks and I'm not trying to relax anytime soon. Two texturizers a year should be sufficient.

By the way, for those of you with Lenzi's Request, I don't believe it's contributing any significant growth, but it makes my new growth feel like butter, with no buildup!!!

Hey girl...
June 22 was my last relaxer, and I'm goin til Christmas because I really want to see what my hair will look like 20 weeks post, and I know I'll be glad I did it when Christmas comes, and I'm lookin all fabulous when I go home.
I eventually want to texturize and then go natural, so this mega stretch will teach my a lot of things about tweaking my regimen and how to deal with my coils. You should hang in there girl!!! You will be SOOO happy that you did! I do think that it becomes increasingly important to keep the line of demarcation moisturized with something heavy like Wild Growth oil or S-Curl. I know that once I get past week 7 or 8, I have to deep condition with heavier conditioners and start CO washing. Giovanni Direct Leave-in gives me faith that I can manage my new growth. :look:

Breathe, STRETCH, shake, let it grow! :yep:

:yep: uh huh...like I told Kizzy...breathe, stretch, shake, let it grow!

Count me in! I'll be 22 weeks post on Dec. 24. that will be my longest stretch ever! I'm 7 weeks post now...i usually go ~12 weeks...so wish me luck. Grow hair grow!

Well I guess I should join the club! I really want to get as much growth as I possibly get before relaxing on Dec 24th ( x-mas eve!!). What a great gift.....I hope that I can survive and that this gives me more incentive to really give my hair e great deal of attention so my hair won't break off during this stretch.

This was something I was thinking about over the weekend. I am currently 12 weeks post relaxer and decided not to relax until Thanksgiving or Christmas. I will join this challenge.

Count me in!!!!!!!! I started stretching back in the June. I might as well keep going until December. Maybe I can get 3 inches.

Im in....will we check in to see how we are coming along? I need motivation because right about now I am not really into hair care...but my sister motivated me a little her hair has grown so long after listening to what I tell her to do...and she isnt even a member lol. :p

Count me in. I'm going to stretch to 18-20wks as normal. This will mean my next touch-up will be between 3-17 Jan. Will try to resist the temptation to get my hair done for Christmas / New Years Eve.

I'm due for my next relaxer around Christmas so count me in!

Ok I'm stretching too but I'm stretching to get it pressed no perm for me. I'm just nourishing my scalp then I'm going to press so I can see the length of my hair. Then January I'll be starting the baggie again every 6 months to a year by 2006 Dec I'll be waist length. So that's my plan and I'm sticking to it. You can do it ladies if I can anyone can I just think about reaching my hair goal (waist length) and I can hold out. I'm addicted to hairstyles so it's tough for me but I see so many black women hair just falling out bald spots and everything no hairline and they are young oh no! that won't be me. That's enough motivation for me. The health of my hair keeps me going and knowing when I get old I'm going to still be fly!!!peace ladies

I'm SO excited to be in this challenge!!! this is the motivation I NEED! i made it to 13 weeks post last time and I'm hoping to go to 16-17 weeks this time.

I have some ideas for products to help me stretch that long like: Nutress protein conditioner (so great! detangles beautifully) Suave Humectant (my babe!) My bone comb (sometimes i think i need a bigger one) Queen Helene's Cholesterol (remove the tangles)

ok... so i have S-Curl, i bought it months ago, i use it in this moisturizer mix that I made. How do you ladies use it, b/c last time I used it alone on my hair, it wasn't so great... I didn't give it a second chance and if it works for you guys then I MUST be doing something wrong...

Also, I have a question: before you touch-up after such a long time, what do you do to make sure your hair isn't tangled and that whoever's going to relax your new growth can part your hair???

that's been my downfall the past 2 times i relaxed. I lost A LOT of hair. I'm thinking about going to the salon about 3-4 days before i relax and have my hair roller-set so it's smooth and the new growth is very noticeable so that my hair won't be hard to manage WHILE i'm relaxing. Is this good?

YAAAAAAAAY I'm glad to have so many people in the Christmas Stretch Club!!!
Bmm That's funny that your sister's hair is thriving more than yours...with this mega stretch and some TLC, you should be able to change all that! :) And yes, this is the check-in/encouragement thread and you can ask ANYTHING about stretching...I know I'll have my days where I just need to see other people pressin on to encourage me...

PradaLover I'm a Prada lover too, hehe. This should be fun...glad to have you lady!

Prettyblac Welcome! Girl you are so on point! I feel you on other people's jacked up hair being motivation because sometimes I'm like, I can *not* have my head lookin like that...and then I get to moisturizin!

JenniferMD Girl I'm lovin all the hang time in your avatar...one day my curls will hang that way...what color magnetics did you use??? :scratchch
Glad to have ya!

Frankie Girl this is my longest too and I'm *so* excited I can hardly stand it! I was lookin at all the luscious thickness I had goin on tonight...in the words of the Mickey D's commercial...I'm LOVIN it! :yep:

LengthyDreams There are so many good reasons to stretch. I think the most prevalent reason is to avoid/lessen overlapping at relaxer time. It also gives your hair a break from the chemicals overall. I've found that my hair has thickened up since I stopped relaxing at the first sight of a wave. For ladies who enjoy the coils from time to time (i.e. me), it's a nice change from straight hair b/c the new growth is conducive to twistouts, bradouts etc etc. Stretching also saves money...this year alone I've saved well over $1000 dollars, even with bouts of PJism. :lachen: For folks who are lazy about haircare, stretching provides a time to do less manipulation to save breakage at the line of demarcation. Oftentimes, conditioner washes and other moisture-rich methods are necessary to keep new growth supple, but all in all, I find stretching relatively low maintenance b/c I don't have to wrap it each night the way I would with a fresh relaxer. Just my lil ol 2 pennies...nevertheless, here at the Christmas Stretch Club, our only rule is to
Breathe, STRETCH, shake, let it GROW!!! :lachen:

Vikkisecret Hey girlie! Glad you're here!

lthomas Howdy! Glad you decided on Christmas rather than Thanksgiving...I don't think they have a Thanksgiving Stretch Club
Good luck!

nikipovi What's up mama? You'll get those 3" in no time! I'm peepin your location too! I was born and raised in Huntsville, AL...southern ladies in the building! Happy hair growing!

Carlita Hey girlie!!! I'm so glad you joined us! I'm super excited too as you can probably tell...
you and I had the same exact experience with the S curl...I threw my first bottle away because I was disgusted with how slimy my hair felt. I discovered that putting it in a spray bottle with some water & rosemary makes all the difference in the world. This is my new growth potion.
As far as tangles go, I think rollersetting is an excellent way to keep things from bein so tangled during the relaxing process. Going to the salon is definitely an option, but I would do it myself b/c I trust me more, and I've *almost* perfected the roller set so I'm tryng to get my practice in  Either way, I'm sure you'll have a lot of success goin that route! Good luck and keep us posted!

Glad everybody's in...the more, the merrier...
There are two things in this world I can stretch...a dollar and a relaxer!

Here I am!! Count me in. I'm currently 6 weeks post relaxer. I'd love to gain 3 inches but speaking realistically, I'd like to gain & retain 1 inch.

Happy Stretching!!!

Hey girlie...I think every month is order, what about you? If anyone has questions/comments/concerns, they're welcome to voice them here...
Product raves/rants for stretching are also *very* welcome

This is exactly what I needed!!!

I decided to not only stretch my relaxer to December but I am trying to go no heat! Can I do it?

So far my hair is long enough to finally be able to put it up into a nice twist or bun.

I have been struggling because I really know this will work but four months?....
I think I can do it.

So far I have gone 2 weeks without putting heat on my hair. The last time I went two months witout heat my hair grew like crazy! But I had to chop it off!

December and 3more inches here I come!!! (with a little encouragement from my LHCF sistas!!)
