Not So Soft NEW GROWTH *help!!!!!!!!!!!*

For starters, I usually get a relaxer every 6 or 7 weeks. I would have gotten one by now if I had not have joined LHCF and learned the importance of hair care and stretching out relaxers, which is what I am doing now. The new growth at the top of my head is about 2.5 inches. It's beautiful, no problem with it. It seems that the front doesn't have any new growth and is just frizzy and unmanageable (won't curl, won't lay down, etc) The back is like the front with maybe 1 inch of new growth but I have a lot of breakage back there. I CANNOT use a fine tooth comb to comb back there because hair will break off with the bulb included and it just sheds everytime I put a comb back there. If I use a wide tooth comb, it doesn't control and grasp my hair and new growth like I would like to. All you hear when you comb my "kitchen" is crackle crackle crinkle crinkle. lol. I just need some help. Why is it my newgrowth breaks and sheds the rest of my hair. I don't like seeing this much shedding and breakage it makes me want to just go get a relaxer and be done with it all...I NEED SOME HELP on how to keep my hair from breaking and shedding and not frizzy while stretching out my relaxer. I don't use heat or wash everyday like some of you do. HELP me Puh-lease!

I use WGO. I oil my scalp sparingly with it. My new growth is soft. Keeps my hair moisturised(sp) for 3-4 days. I would say that this is the best product I have discovered by far. Everyone does not oil their scalp, but my hair and scalp luv it. /images/graemlins/wave.gif

What really helps my new growth is Wild Growth Oil. It makes my new growth so soft and manageable. Some complain that it smells bad but the smell doesn't bother me at all its not as bad as some say. You should try it. Before that I was using Sta Sof Fro. But the WGO works MUCH better. Also once its time to wash my hair after using the WGO my hair still remains soft.

I find that surging helps my newgrowth to be softa nd I recently discovered shea butter. I applied it last weekend after washing my hair and I could comb my newgrowth with a fine tooth comb if I wanted...of course I didn't

Profectiv Root health and Wildgrowth Oil really help keep my Newgrowth soft and manageable

I also want to say that you need to "know your hair" some people cannot go long periods of time in between relaxers and not have a lot of breakage, we have some women who relax within that 6-8 week period and their hair is fine...Lulu is a great example. Also, if you have 2 inches of newgrowth within 6 or 7 weeks, it will be very easy for your stylist to NOT overlap the relaxer. Most people wait to get that much newgrowth because they fear overlapping. Why are you waiting?

WGO usually works for me too. I add peppermint oil to mask the odor (shouts out to sassy for this tip /images/graemlins/up.gif)

Well one of my stylist said to use motions cpr when I have a lot of new growth. You can try that but if my hair ever starts to shed I relaxed it quick unless I just had some cornrolls or something.

i like using a combination of: s-curl or African Pride Braid Sheen + QP Elasta Mango Butter. Brush into a ponytail, wear a satin scarf and go to sleep. In the morn, the ne growth is acting right.

I use Profectiv Roothealth to control my newgrowth and when it gets really unruly I pull out my Sta So Fro until my next relaxer.

I recently got a re-touch after 16 weeks. Conditioner washes with KeraCare Humecto worked extremely well at keeping all of my hair soft including my new growth.

I also sprayed my new growth with a mixture of KeraCare Essential Oils, Aura Cacia Sweet Almond Oil, a tiny amount of water, and a small amount of KeraCare Humecto whenever it looked dry.

Whenever I did a roller set I sprayed my new growth with Soft and Beautiful Botanicals Oil.

Finally, I've recently started leaving a little bit of the Humecto in my hair after conditioner washing instead of rinsing all of it out. This helps to keep all of my hair including the new growth soft, moisturized, and very easy to detangle.
