ok last time i went to the salon she cut my hair 1-2 inches. i cant complain so much because she got rid of the scab hair but if i go to this lady again in december or January she is not going to trim, cut, or dust my ends. she doesn't know what trimming is. :perplexed
she didnt trim side to side she trimmed long ways i might be able to find a pic
i looked in the mirror and she was taking about this much off:nono:

she attempted to give me a halle berry cut:rolleyes:
she gave me all types of layers
i want to be apl by at least my hair anniversary so i dont want her ruining my progress :look: if its really needed then i will do it at my house but only dusting unless i see breakage:yawn: oh yea im no longer nl now:grin:

i just had to vent
tis all:drunk:

Your hair looks great BUT she cut way too much off if you are trying to grow your hair out. You will never make any progress if she keeps putting her scissors to your head.

I don't blame you, especially since you already know you don't like the way she cuts. Have you trimmed your own hair before? I'm sure you'll be fine doing it yourself!

Yes, don't let them do that again. If they start doing what you don't want, leave. You tell them what to do.

Unless you are trying to maintain a style or your ends are tangling and breaking off you do not need to trim.

Those are the best "trims" because, they "trim" the entire head and all the ends are fabulous :yep:.

But they are the worst if your focus is retaining length. It will look great, but you will loose inches! :nono:.

If your goal is BSL, go back when you reach MBL. They'll "trim" you back up to BSL. Seriously, :lachen:.

Its not a bad looking style however I wouldn't have paid that :censored: a dime if she hacked my hair off like that. The reason why my hair is the longest that it has ever been now is because I haven't let a stylist trim my hair in over a year and probably won't ever let them again. Unless in the future I truly want a hair cut. I do my own trims they may be a little uneven but at least my progress is not getting cut off.

Sexyeyes, do you trim your own hair or you have not trimmed in a year? I plan on trimming or dusting when needed or every 6 months to once a year.

exactly and i dont want her jacking me up
when i cam i probably had up to 6 inches, when i left i probably had 4 inches all over at the most:rolleyes:

How about I haven't been to a stylist for over 2 years for this very reason...
I don't trust them... I won't be going ever again or at least not until I'm well beyond
my goal and could spare a few inches

I don't think frequent trimming is really necessary if you're focusing on keeping those ends protected. When I started my hair journey, I got a nice trim to get off the scraggly ends and then didn't trim for another 13 months. My ends were fine and even the stylist remarked on them. She just asked if she could trim so my hair would look 'neater' (took off just under an inch- and I was watching her like a hawk because I was so nervous) I will admit my hair lay better when it was straight after that, but I wear my hair straight like 4-5 times a year, so it's really not that crucial to have neat ends.

Seximami, I say hold off as long as you can. Your hair looks nice, though.

This is awesome. I dusted my ends yesterday and I just thought.... wow. That was free! As opposed to paying someone 60 bucks to do my hair like they wanted.... I've done two relaxers, DCing, proteining, etc. and I am so proud of myself!

I decided not to trim until I hit BSL. I'll dust it every now and again but I'm not going to have it trimmed until graduation (May 09.)

Just wanted to say GOOD FOR YOU!!!

im moisturizing like crazy and sealing my ends i dont want any split ends or breakage. if i see her again ima say i just want a flat iron. and when i get home if i see raggedy ends ill just dust but im gonna make sure she bumps it at the ends to not make the ends look noticable

I thought about you yesterday. I was thinking about calling Kim but then I reminded myself about how I would feel if I came out of there 2 inches shorter. I just hung the phone back up.

whats the best way to self trim? ive never had a problem with knots, but now that i try to finger comb, im seeing that i do get them.. my hair just likes to have relations with itself.. it doesnt bother me per se, but i still think its due time for one. any suggestions?

Seximami,

If you weren't in another state, I would swear we went to the same stylist. I went to one asking for a minor trim and she pulled my hair up the same way to cut. I got home and realized that ***** actually cut into it and made it shorter... all the way around! She set me back completely. I called her on it and she apologized. I also fired her. The shorter side wasn't even layered like it was suppose to be... it looked like it had breakage instead of layers.

I found a new stylist and am pleased with her. I explained to her what happened. I brought in pictures of my goal, told her what I didn't like about my jacked up cut. She agreed and said it was too many layers and it was uneven. I told her that I don't want any cutting at all until I get comfortable with her. She understood and told me that she would not trim unless she saw areas where she could "even up" the style as it grew or if ends were split.

That was around June/July and to this day she has not needed to even trim my ends... except for my nape area which I keep tapered. She made a deal with me that if I cut out the flat irons/heat except on wash day then I wouldn't need to trim my ends. My hair is really growing and I've recovered from my horrible cut about 95%.

I will not be trimming/cutting my hair ever...:look:. The day after my BC I went to the salon to have a stylist remove the extra relaxed hair and she ended up "shaping" my hair. It left me very short in the middle and back (set be back 1-2" in some places)

Your hair looks really good, but that trick knows she cut off too much! I haven't had a trim in I don't know how long. I just dust my on hair when I see fit. Go ahead and reach those goals, girl!!!
