Recently I found out by mistake that leaving conditioner in my hair leaves it moisturized and works like gel to define curls.

Deep conditioner was in my hair and a friend called me to tell me that she had extra tcokcets for a cooncert that started in an hour and I was OUT

My hair looked fab though, completley drenched in conditioner. You couldn't even see the conditioner in my hair. The curls were perfect, I've never had such good curl defintion.

This is how I go about doing my hair:

I saturate my hair with conditioner at night, detangle and braid it (to keep it from tangling at night).

This is the part I've changed

Before I would take the briads out, rinse my hair in the morining and apply product.

Now I just take the brids out and apply a little oil (If I didn't put oil in the conditioner)

I rinse my hair at night and do repeat the process. It's like doing a co wash, then letting it dry... or deep conditioning and just letting it dry.

Saves time and money, gives much less manipulation and my hair looks GREAT! Also, it's not going to give you any more buildup than you would usually get (if you are a daily co-washer)

Now I only use leave-in/gel/moisturizer for actual styling.

The only negative is that it takes your hair longer to dry completely. It has increased my drying time by about 3 hours.

It's cool for me, just thought that I'd share.

yeah, my friend told me about this little "trick." She has waist-length natural hair and its SO healthy. It smells good too because she used Herbal Essences Replenshing Conditioner.

This sounds great but I wonder what hair type you have, do you think this will work with any type of hair, I'd love a new style option. Although I don't know if my bottom could take the additional 3 hours sitting under a hood. Please tell me your talking about air drying, then maybe I could do it

I've got regular old nappy 3c/4a hair. It's texturized. I think that it would work for the more tightly curled, coarse hair types. Other hair types can get weighed down/greasy. I'm thinking 3c and up... possibly coarse 3b's too

I was talking about airdrying! :)

I guess that it can if you usually wear wash and go's. If you don't have a curl pattern at all, I don't think it would look good. I can also see this working well for people who wear their hair up.
