My roots are the only part of my hair that I use direct heat on, so I'd love to buy something like that. But $180 is a little steep. That's how much I paid for Pibbsy! I might stick with narrow-shaped cheap ceramic flat irons for now.

And also, it said that it went up to 430 degrees. Did it have temperature control? Cuz that's a lot of heat!

I have this tool and it basically works like a straightening comb for your roots, but you don't have to worry about burning your head. You just comb it through. You have to do small sections bc the teeth are really small in the combs (there's one on either side of the heat barrel, but that straightens them roots right on out.

I usually use a pressing creme with it when I use it. It's got variable temperatures going up to like 450 degrees. (I think that would take your hair right on out) bc my hair is thick and I only use about the 300 setting or so..One thing, IT IS ONLY FOR ROOTS, NOT YOUR WHOLE HAIR LENGTH. IT IS NOT A STRAIGHTENING COMB. I could see how a natural sister might use it in conjuction with a straightening comb when pressing one's own hair, but again, not for whole length use. It's good bc with little finesse or skill (and I don't have any when it comes to pressing hair), you can press exactly what part of the root you want to, so no danger of overlapping high heat on relaxed hair for me!

I am almost 6 weeks post and I used it on my hair 4 days ago and the roots are still straight. I even worked out a couple of those days. It's a cool tool, but the price tag is really steep. If you can find a cheaper solution, go for it-

ummm...this is looking like basically the exact same thing I paid $175 for! I would say this one is a no-brainer.

I'm sorta not too sure I'll be able to wing it because my roots are the hardest thing to get over once the NG sets in. I dont even think I could seperate all that hair in the back enough to get that tool in there.

This one is a little different. That rod in the middle gets really hot and there is no temp control. I have it and it burned my hair. You must be very careful with this one.

The first comb looks more like a curling iron.
