NO HEAT SUMMER CHALLENGE!

I have decided today that I am not going to put any direct heat on my hair all summer! I will use heat for deep conditioning, and that is it!

Pray for me to be able to do this! I love to straighten out my hair, but I know my hair will be much more healthy if I lay off the heat!

August 1 is the day I am shooting for, I am going to give my sister my flat iron, curling iron, and hand held dryer, to hide from me

. I could use all the support I can get, if anyone else wants to join me, please do!

I am in too!!! After thinking for a long time I have decided to transition and go natural and I think heat will only damage my hair especially where the two textures meet so I am definetly getting in on this challenge.

I'll have to join this sometime in May. And until August.
I know I'll probably put in braids at some point anyway...it should be pretty easy to stick to this. Besides, I wouldn't want to straighten in summer anyway...the humidity will just make fros of my attempts

I've been on my own no heat challenge since July, 2003 and I know it works!! I love air drying my hair! Since I would like to purchase a flat iron and straighten my hair at least once this summer (and/or this spring), I'll wait a little longer before joining this challenge. I'm in...well I'm already in. I've been heat free since February 1st and I don't even use it for conditioning. I use a dark cap and let the heat from my body do the work.

I'm in!!! I started on March 9th, but would love the support!! I plan to go until September, not sure exactly when. I have a really wonderful salon quality dryer, that I still haven't put fully away. I use the cool shot to help dry damp braid and twist outs when needed. It's helps alleviate the separation anxiety.

The only heat I plan to use is my heat cap for conditioning, which creates more steam than anything.

I don't know how long it will last for me. I just started back relaxing so the Flat Iron is now my friend. My hair seems to like heat. I go back to my stylist on Apr. 22nd so once I get my touch up I'll begin. Until then I'll work on stopping.

I'm in as of May. As a 3C/4a, I don't even waste my trim trying to use heat in the summer. Humidity sticks like glue to my hair!

im trying this too. dont forget that too much direct sunlight can cause heat damage too. i havent used heat since last month

I plan on wearing braid outs all summer. I was no-heat since the last visit to my stylist...but I had it flat ironed and curled in my most recent visit.

I'm back on board though.

thats when Braidouts and textured styles come into play. If her album is up take a look at ModelChicks, her styles are slamming and very Humidity Friendly Might I add.

How is every one doing? Can you believe it's June already?! That's about 6 weeks in for most of us. I've been w/o heat since early March and I'll be honest...I'm starting to itch a little bit.
