I just cowashed and airdryed with rollers so I will see how this turns out in the morning:cool:

I am thinking about trying a braidout for this week but wondering really how it will look on my hair.

Vivadiva, do you have pictures of your braidout??? Would you mind sharing?? :) :)

Relatively new here..so bear with me--

For those of you that are doing the No Heat Challenge or those of you that are basically on a " no heat" regimen, please explain to a sistah after you wash and do all the deep conditions, oils, etc.. what do you do as far as drying? I am asking this because I thought I was doing my own personal no heat challenge until I read up and saw that every week when I washed/cowashed and after my rollerset, I would go back and flat iron my roots and sometimes even down to my ends:eek: I guess the reason I thought it was a no heat challenge is because I wasn't taking the iron to it daily as I used to (someone is in the background laughing at me cause I'm a fool).

Just what do those of you who are are texlaxed /or even naturals do for a "no heat regimen"

I hardly ever use heat. I just let my hair air dry.

I woke up this morning and my hair was dry and it looked pretty good I must say, I am shocked:p My ends are smooth..My roots are slightly wavy but I can deal with it.

congrats :D

For me, no heat is absolutely no heat. Not even for conditioning. When I first started doing it, my hair kinda went crazy, but now, after 3 years, its great. After I'd used my amla oil, washed and conditioned, I put on my leave in (Currently Herbal Essences anti break) and then put it up. If I want my hair wavy, I braid it in two pocohantas (Thats what I call them because everyone says I look like an indian girl with them) braids and let it dry. If I want it it straight I just band it. If you've ever watched Disney's Aladdin, you see that Jasmin just puts three bands down the length of her hair without braiding it. That is what I do, except in two ponytails like I would with braids. If I need it to dry faster, I turn on my ceiling fan.

I'm not on a no heat challenge, but the only heat I use is indirect during my deep conditioning sessions. I always air dry after washing and never use flat irons or blow dryers.

My no heat regimen means no heat. Air drying and no heating tools to style my hair. I am wearing a weave to give my hair a break and grow it out.

I use only a hooded dryer when I do deep conditioning. I use no other direct heat in my hair and I only air dry my hair. I were my hair curly everyday either in a puff or an updo. I have been doing this for over 2 years and I love it.

I don't believe in "NO HEAT".. I think its really crazy. I believe in heat in moderation.. I'm finding alternatives for using heat.. I think the chemicals will get you faster than the heat... but that's just MY opinion but that means nothing..:lachen:.. I had healthy waist hair flat ironing daily.. but when I got that relaxer.. then highlights on top.. that was a combination for disaster. Nothingbeats an FHI or a pressing comb for straight hair.. I'm sorry.

I only use heat for my DC. I have been on a no heat diet since Sept 08. Iam finding though that I would like to have straight hair some days but not owning a blow dryer nor a flat iron cures that feeling. I am still thinking about geting them just in case. :perplexed Bantu knot outs are working for the moment.

I only use either my hooded dryer or my conditioning cap for deep conditioning... depends on which I want to lug out of hiding. Other than that I air dry... my hair is fine and thin... hate that...so it takes about 2 hours to dry even in braids... then I wear braid outs. I am doing a personal no heat until this September...to see what my hair does. But I haven't joined any challenge for heat control.

No heat whatsoever. I airdry only, although I recently bought a hood dryer and own a heat cap. I have never used either. Next week I am supposed to do a rollerset for the wedding, the reason I bought the hood dryer, however, it is hot here, and she may get a wash and go!

I agree with this in regards to my hair care. If I have to go 100% heat free then my hair is in a very unhealthy state. And I need to re-evaluate my hair care regimen pronto!
A healthy scalp and strong hair strands can easily survive sensible, moderate direct heat usage!:yep:

I need a Thank You button for this!

I usually wash, blow-dry, and flat-iron my hair once a week when not in braids. But not this weekend! I bought my rollers to start doing roller-sets, and last night I just wet-wrapped my hair, tied a hairnet over it to hold it in place, and sat under my hooded dryer until it was 80% dry. Then, with my hair still wrapped, I tied a silk scarf over it. When I unwrapped it today, my hair was straight and FULL, with lots of body....I really like it! When I flat iron, my hair feels so thin...I'm gonna give the no-heat (flat-iron/blow-dryer) reggie a try for a while. I did get some suran-wrap for doing dry-wraps following my roller sets, and I am trying out Soft & Beautiful StyleProtect Nighttime Dry Wrap Mousse to use when I wrap at night.

when I was relaxed, the no heat style was really easy, I usually did wng's and if I wanted it straight, I would do a wet wrap the night before and my hair would be really straight and bouncy. But the no heat method shines when you are natural, b/c I just bun it most days

I have learned so much on this web-site and have used no heat....in three months and it has been great!!1...I thought I could not live without heat!!!....but I'm Texlaxed and it is getting warmenr and I do the wet head ponytail thing and it is GREAT!!!!!....I'm going to to do no heat for this year and when the colder months get here....I will do low cool heat to dry to hit the cold air on my wash days!!1....It really is possible to live with no heat on your HAIR!!!!...and loving it!!!!

I love heat..I'm not going to lie. I'm in heat rehab as we speak. I'm have managed to cut out the blowdrier..so now I'm trying to cut out the flat iron. If I learn how to do this whole rollerset thing..I will be okay..

I use no direct heat. I just use a hooded dryer for deep condition and lately I have not done that I have just been deep conditioning overnight and air drying.

I 100% airdry since I wash once a week, but I also flat iron once a week on 320 with Sedu with 2 great heat protectors (Elucene & Kera Care). I put the Elucene heat protector on when my hair is like 75% dry and then the Kera Care heat protector when it's 100% dry. I section it in about 8 big pieces and I never run the flat iron more then 2 times in the roots and 1 time at the ends. So it's not bone straight but straight enough for my satisfaction! That's the only time I use heat all week until the next wash day.

I'm on a no heat regimen because I'm trying to keep my hair as healthy/intact as possible and retain as much length as possible.

I airdry in twists overnight. My avvie is an example of my daily style - the twistout.

ETA:

I'm not "No Heat" because I believe that it's impossible to have very healthy hair while using heat. I just don't want to use heat in my hair.

To me, it's DIRECT heat. So no blow-dryers, no flat irons, but roller-setting under the dryer and DCing is fine.
