Using heat isn't a big issue for me. I'm relaxed bone straight so I'll sacrifice using heat on top of all the chemicals. Rollersets work really well for me and gives me the straightness I want. This is not to say I won't ever use heat, because I will it just won't be every week/fortnight. Doing this means I don't have to get trims at very regular intervals my stylists has said that my ends are in very good condition.
. I personally believe that one can achieve long hair and still use direct heat (I've seen too many heads of long hair on youtube that use direct heat to say otherwise). Whether that hair is deemed as "healthy" or not or how frequently they can use direct heat is really up to the individual, their hair type, and the standards/expectations that they have for their hair. Many people apply the standards they hold for their own hair to others, failing to realize that the other individual may have entirely different expectations for their own hair.
So, I went to a lo heat reggie where I would rollerset every week, that worked for a while!
) my hair doesn't look like I just woke up and left the house. Both my siggie pic and avi are air dried hair.
It can be done, the key is finding the right leave-ins and air drying method for your hair!
