I comb 2x's per week on wash day when I have conditioner in my hair and I use the rat tail to section it so that I can braid it or band it. I hope it helps. Been doing for a few weeks now. I wear a wig all day so no one can see my hair. I plan to unveil in May 09.

I use a seamless widetooth comb also. The same comb I saw in Potterville's fotki once. (I'm not sure her fotki is still up)

I only recently tried finger combing instead of using my denman. I gotta admit I have way more curl definition and that makes me really happy. In fact I'm a week away from 9 months post and the curl definition had me wanting to BC!

I gave up being natural three years ago, and, now (after an October BC) I'm doing a lot of thinking back on why my hair stayed the same length (nl) for, like, 4 years, and I think it had to do a lot with (1) not moisturizing like I should have and (2) lots and lots and lots of combing: all combs do is rip my hair off and wreak havoc on my ends. So, I absolutely, totally, and completely refuse to comb my hair this time around! Co-washes and fingers through hair is good enough for me!! I had no idea my nappy hair could be so cute and curly, and I was natural for 17 years! This no-combing is too big a breakthrough for me to ignore ;)

I'm still learning how to do this with my uber thick natural hair. I just don't know if I can do it.

Not combing everyday has help my hair to get thicker and longer. I only comb my hair once a week or every two weeks!!!!!!!!!

Very interesting ladies. I am sick of seeing the hairs in the comb myself. Like one poster said, the sound of the comb ripping thru my hair UGHHHH! I dunno if I can no comb, but comb less, I am definately going to try. I can see myself trying to only comb on the day that I rollerset since this procedure involves lots of combing. Gonna give it a try.

Another no comber here. I prolly use a brush (haven't used a comb in awhile) every 2 months. I finger comb or detangle more often in the summer months because I wear wash-n-gos like everyday. But inthe winter, there's no need fo me to do anything to my hair. I wear protective styles all winter long.

As a natural, I thought I needed to pick out my fro every day. :nono: To get it picked out well, I'd end up with tons of little curls all over the bathroom. Once I stopped that, I started retaining a whole lot more.

For sure! One of the best things I ever did for my hair! I comb 1x every week or two.

Well combing alot for me messes up my curls but as far as pulling out my hair that's not a problem. The main idea is to find something to stop your hair from shedding.

I comb my hair no more than twice a week. The rest of the time, i.e. in between washes, I use my fingers, otherwise the comb would break my hair.

I combed my hair last week. It was the first time a comb has touched my head since last summer. I felt guilty doing because I kept imagining the seams ripping my hair. I use a denman because it works great and is seamless.

Does any body still care about seams? It isn't talked about much lately...
OT: (Bolded) Why is it so important?

Um only for a day or two and that is only if I am wearing the wash n go other than that it gets way to tangled argh! :ohwell:

i've been combing my hair on wash days (once a week) and finger combing in between.

so far its ok. i brushed my hair last week in sections with a denman and i did get breakage and sheds but i think i'll do this maybe once or twice a month because i get alot of sheds tangling.

i also like the denman coz it distibutes the oils better than my shower comb

One of the best decisions I made for my hair.

I can't imagine combing my hair on a regular basis now.

I finger comb only with co-washing. Working great for me. I used to comb all the time (wet hair with conditioner) now I only finger comb or rake.

However when I am doing a style where I am applying a styling aid and conditioner I do use a comb only with saturated hair starting at ends. I do that maybe once a month.

TQ

For the most part.

I detangle with my fingers and that works out great.

Last week, I did the no-comb technique after I washed my hair and it worked out much better than I expected. There was no hair on my shirt, and less hair on the floor than there usually is (I'm hoping the Aphogee 2-min will take care of ALL the hair on the floor.).

However, I must comb out my ends because they will tangle like crazy if I don't. I also like to comb before I wash my hair to get rid of any excess tangles.

When I was wearing braided buns for a year, I combed only once a week on wash day and I feel it worked for me, although detangling was a BEAR. Currently I feel the need to detangle my rollerset hair every day. but when I go back to wash and go's several times weekly in the warmer weather I will probably only detangle once a week.

I don't comb. I'll finger comb from time to time though. My fingers can actually feel the tangles so it works well.

If I want to smooth the front, I'll brush it a little with a soft bristle brush.

As it gets closer to touch up time I'll finger comb my hair really well.

I only just started combing my hair less frequently. I now comb and detangle once a week; but when I wear it straight, I comb daily
