No Buy Product Challenge 2011 pt.1

I would like to be included in the first two legs of the challenge. I have been trying to use up or give away a lot of my products recently so my stash has been slowly decreasing. If I make it for the first two legs I shouldn't have anything left but my staples. It also helps that my family members use alot of my hair products.

My ten staples are going to be:
1. Giovanni SAS conditioner
2. Curlz Cream Cleanser (I like it but the price may not work long term)
3. Aussie Moist
4. Kinky Curly Knot Today
5. Argan Oil (luvs it)
6. Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner
7. Aloe Vera Juice
8. Jojoba Oil
9. Eco Styler Gel
10. Beyond the Zone noodle head

I put my ayurnaturals away last night. Definitely good on henna and face powders for the year (or pretty close to it). Not in the mood to buy anything, which is a great thing.

I have only used up 2 things so far-MHC Molasses and Moist 24/7. I started the year off opening up new stuff (wasn't planned).

I had to pay a professional organization membership for work and one for sorority. So that put a dent in my savings for this month. My job is going to reimburse me for the one so that's $135 to pay on my credit card.

Next month's saving will be better.

I haven't finished anything lately. Not even a dent. At this rate I won't be buying anything for myself at the HairShow, only work items and a marcel iron set. So right now, that's my resolve - no personal purchases at the hair show.

I keep work and personal items separate, even if it means I have two sets of the same products.

*Determined to live a minimalist lifestyle in 2011

Ugh ~ my LLBean Shearling Lined Boots won't be delivered until March! Dag nab it! I knew I should have ordered these over the summer.

I really want to put my hair in senegalese twist until April; however, I'm trying to make a dent in my stash before the BB hair show. I may just hold off until after the summer becasue I know I will be co-washing like crazy in the summer and the bulk of my stash is conditioner. Once I found out about the benefits of co-washing and how much my hair loved it i went conditioner crazy; really, how many heads did I think I had.

.

I'm only buying gel, flexi rods, clips, scarfs and satin rollers at the hair show.

I think I'm going to try to use one product before I move on to the next. This way I won't keep going from product to product.

Well I spent some of my tax money :look:

I bought 2 pairs of bell bottoms from Gap, 2 button down shirts from BR, and I'm buying some MAC. I only spent like 30% off it the rest I am gonna put towards my loans. I'm pretty proud of myself, usually I would have just blown the whole thing...

Okay I finished off my first two products last night when I washed my hair. One shampoo and one conditioner. The conditioner was the Suave Almond and Shea and def worth a repurchase this summer when I start cowashing my hair. Until the summer washing season I will try to get rid of the rest of the conditioners I have.

Okay QB is back online......oh oh oh I really want some Cocoa Detangler. It really softens my ng. I'm mad I didn't buy on Black Friday, but I did a no-buy so, it is what it is.

I'm using Keracare Natural Textures Leave-In conditioner right now. Its a good product as a LI, but I want QB.

I actually enjoy using up all the products I have. I should be done with two more products (1- moisturizer and 1-conditioner)by the end of this week if i stick with my regularly scheduled mid-week co-wash.

I finished my 10th product today. I am happy that I am finishing up so many products at the beginning of this challenge. It helps. At some point I will be going crazy because it feel like I'm not finishing anything.

I finished my 11th product today. Looking at my list: 8 of the 11 were conditioners. Not surprising at all.

I finished a cowash condish and DC. I plan to open new stuff on Friday.

My money got funny this month since they upped my student loan payments. This is putting a dent in all savings. This is also going to help me stop spending on frivolous things like coffee, fast food, snacks (I spent $40 this week, bad Vonnie).

Content to keep using what's in my stash. Trying to focus on consolidating and stop "hoarding". Keep to having only staples in the stash.

I used 2 more products today I'm so proud of myself. I'm too excited because now I can move on to a new DC a co-wash condish.

Um...I bought a Tangle Teezer yesterday. That's allowed, right? Other than that I haven't bought anything and have finished 3 products. I love it because I am able to try new products (that were in my stash) now. I think I'll actually have a true list of staples and a regimen by the time we finish.

I'm almost done with my Curls Milkshake and Aubrey's GPB. I know almost doesn't count, but to near the emptiness of a bottle is rare for me .

I've finished 6 bottles so far, still got a looooooong way to go, I'd be in pretty good shape if it wasn't for all that dang skala lol

I finished the Avocado cleansing condish by Mozeke. Definitely not a repurchase.

Can't believe the first month is nearly over. But I know it will be easier, for each of us, with each passing month. The urges will be less and less. And the used up products will be more and more. And the money we save towards our goals will be greater and greater.

I finally re-upped on my JBCO. I purchased the small one so I would be sure to stretch it out before I buy another one.

I don't know how I am going to use up all my products! I try to keep a protective style. I moved all my products to a bin (foot locker size). At this rate, I'll be on a no buy until 2015
