No Buy Product Challenge 2011 pt.1

I'm doing well so far ladies, just replenished my shea butter and coconut oil, but I'm getting that itch...good thing I go back to work next week.

I've been doing good. The only things I've spent money on is my Physical Therapy Co-Pays, my groceries being delivered when I get back to my apt and 10 bucks at Chick-Fila to take a friend out for breakfast.

I marked all of the sale advertisements and newsletters as spam at my gmail account so I would not be tempted.

It's been 12 days and I am so glad! Plus once I go back to work I won't be so tempted to buy things.

I've finished 6 products since the start of this challenge. I can't wait to see how many I use up by the end since I am doing all 4 legs. I also plan to compare that with what I buy because I am sure I will use a pass or need to replenish at some point.

Woot Woot Jerze in the house!!

I did replenish my henna and facial powders today since Ayrunaturals had a sale. I bought enough for the year so I won't be tempted or even need to buy anything from that vendor. I qualified for free shipping (it would have been $12 or more) I saved more money doing a bulk order then buying enough for 6mos or less especially with free shipping.

I didn't even have a itch for buying but 20% was a good sale and I was completely out of henna and nearly out of face powder.

I'm done with spending any money for the week since I put gas in the car and bought groceries.

I've been doing great on the no buy. In the hair category - nothing. I have gotten some face items but I'm stepping away from my spa visits - so I'm pleased with my decision.

I did buy a pair of MaxStudio pumps. It was a purely selfish purchase. I won't wear them until I drop a few pounds though as a personal 'buy' punishment.

I am not fighting myself on this no-buy thing so I'm happy.

~ But I am waiting for the Makeup Show and the Hair Show.

I used one pass to restock on my powders with Ayurnatural Beauty
I got:
2 amla
3 henna
2 hibiscus
2 red pimento oil
2 amla oil

this should last at least six months because I only henna once a month, and already have powders in my stash.

I'm actually looking forward to the remainder of the No-Buy. Even though it's only been 13 days, I feel like it's been at least a month, lol.

I know I can get through this. I think I'm going to like using up all of the good products that I already have, really taking the time to enjoy a full bottle of product rather than using it just a few times then moving onto another one.

I've finished 7 products since the start of the challenge. Yeah seeing as I have 1 shea moisture dc left and a full pail & a 1/2 of Sitrinillah Imma need to buy some more moisture dc's at some point. I think I will wait until I have only 1/2 pail of Sitri left or if Komaza, Hairveda, or Target has a sale earlier than that.

So I'm going to one of my fav BSS to replenish my JBCO (on staples list); however they have qhemet and other great lines. I plan to only spend $10 on the large bottle of JBCO

How often do you do your hair Shay? Cuz you stay using up products! Good job!!!

I cowash 5 days a week, do a overnight dc 1x/wk, and a full out wash day 1x/wk. The trick is I use a product until I am done. Some things I rotate but most things once I open it I use it until it's done. Some people find that hard but I have so much stuff I can look forward to the next thing once I finish a product. When you have a lot of things open at once it is hard to use up anything.

ETA--I'm heavy handed too. Not as much as I used to be bc I barely have any hair on my head. I also think using products this way you can really tell how a product affects your hair.

I'm still doing good. I bought an ironing board, and bathmat cuz I needed them, but otherwise I have not bought anything!

I used up 2 products (one of which is not a staple - and it expired today so I kind of had to), but I did re-up on one product after I ran out. What made it go faster was using it on my 2 nieces and mom, so me no share no more :nono:

So I decided against buying the JBCO for two reasons: 1) I have plenty of oils that I need to use before I buy anymore and 2) I didn't want to be tempted to buy anything else. This thing called restraint is a new and foreign practice to me; however my pockets love me for it :)

So I went through and did my yearly makeup purge. I ordered from a new line (for me), Vapour Organic and some lipsticks from a few other vendors. They were on sale but I didn't order from my beloved Becca.

I'm also thinking of just getting rid of more hair products and not being bothered with using them up this year. When this challenge is up, my lines will be

-Rolland Una (Oxygenating Drops, Restructuring Mask, vials)
-Joico K-Pak line and Moisture line (maybe the silk - smoothing for fine hair)
-Phyto Organics Kelate (but might switch to a Joico product)
-Aloxxi line (Acidifying conditioner, Polymedic Emergencee, etc) & Nexxus Vitatress
-Goldwell Moisture Definition mask
-Alter Ego Garlic Treatment
-OILS: Rice Bran, JBCO, Camellia

.....I'm sure this will change in a few months.

anywoo, have a great week ladies.

I busted my pair of ballet flats so I bought a pair for $53. I can't wear heels because of my knee so I needed them for work. I'll deposit my grandparent's $50 christmas check to cover most of it. Also I am returning a $163.00 purse to save up for a better quality one.

Received my KBB hair masks (ordered 12-29-2010) and 5 jars of Strong Roots red pimento oil from ayurnaturalbeauty.com 20% off sale Jan 12th. I used a pass for the oil.

I'm doing well so far.....Didn't get the twitches when I got four MLK day sale e-mails.

So I'm seriously thinking about signing up for a 3rd leg. My stash looks real good right now!

I seriously showed restraint for MAC's latest collections (wasn't hard to do; everything is beginning to look like previous collections).

Let's stay motivated y'all!!!

I love this challenge!! I haven't even thought about what to do with the "extra" money I'm saving.

I'm doing really well. I've already planned how much money I'm transferring to savings on my next check.

The hardest part of the No-Buy is the eating/going out.

I've done well not stopping at Dunkin Donuts or WaWa, but it seems like every friend is having a Bday and wants to go out and eat. Or buying gifts for friends birthdays.

I have 3 friends (all good friends) having a birthday next month. 2 are turning 25 so it's not like I can't go out and celebrate a milestone birthday.

I'm supposed to be going to a Sixers game next week, but I'm trying to get my date to pay for any concessions (I'm just saying)

You do spend alot of time in Philly!

And Most Definitely He Should!:yep:

Can I still join this challenge? I have way to many products and I am preparing to move in a few months so I don't want to have a bunch of extra stuff to pack up. Plus I can save some cash for the big day.

I finished a bottle of Giovanni SAS, Tresemme Naturals conditioner and a container of Milk Protein and Olive Oil Strengthening Creme.

I gave away 2 bottles of Suave conditioner.

I think I will have to get another pair (more waterproof) of winter boots. I have a pair of Timberland ankle boots that have served me well the past few years but I may have to get a pair of LLBean's. I hate cold/wet feet. I have dragged my feet on this purchase considering I bought makeup....Maybe we won't get anymore crazy weather?.

I too need another pair of flats/wedges for work Charz. My pretty flats got caught in the rain and they are ruined. I have some store credit and I may use it.

So proud of myself. I bypassed a beautiful scarf I saw in the Macy's display window. I just went home. I spent money on my brows, but did my own mani/pedi at home.
