Hello LHCF My name is Rochelle I have been a member on here for a while but I really want to get start with any hair tips and advice. My Hair is about .25 inch past my shoulders. I have not had a relaxer since july 07. don't know if i will relax soon or decide to go natural. my hair is very thick and i have a problem with keeping moisture in it. I am not sure how to find out what my hair types so if someone could let me know i would luv for my hair to be brastrap length so please let me know what chanllenges woulf be best for me to join. thanks in advance:grin:

Hi there!

There is a bra-strap challenge. It should be in a sticky thread of 2008 challenges or something like that.

If you are having problems retaining moisture there should be a DC challenge and a baggy challenge. Both of these may help you in retaining moisture.

Also, when applying products for moisture, part hair and apply in sections to ensure you get to different parts of hair.

Hope this helps a bit!

Start off by reading the sticky threads at the top. They are loaded with tons of info, most specifically geared towards newbies. Take notes and build a regimen that suits your hair type, goal, and lifestyle.

Also use the search function and read up on the numerous thread on:

* Pre-poos

* Shampooing (the Crown and Glory Method on www.growafrohairlong.com is best).

* Co-washing

* Conditioning / Deep-conditioning

* Airdrying (Sylver has a great scarf method chronicled in her fotki)

* Rollersetting

* Protective Styling

* Baggying

* Tools: good ones and bad ones

This should get you off to a good start and keep you busy for a while.

I agree with above challenges....I would start deep conditioning no less than once a week with a good moisturizing Conditioner..I don't use cheapies for my deep conditioning..

Oh and......

Thank u guys so much. i will be doing a lot of reading today and taking notes I really want to get my hair healthy. Soon I will be posting pics also thanks again. How can I find out what my hair type is?

Welcome. Look at people's pictures, albums, etc and if you see someone's hair you admire don't be afraid to send them a PM asking them about how they care for their hair. Many of the ladies on the board are very willing to share what works for them and answer any questions. Good luck on your hair journey. :yep:
