Hey ladies...

What do/did you use on your newborns/babies hair and for how long? What were your regimens?

my daughter is 3 now and I can tell you wht I did wrong...........

Please no Johnsons baby shampoo its sooo harsh and if I could do it all over again, I wouldnt do any wash and gos. I would have restrained her hair in some way but gently of course

so good luck mommy

For my newborn I used baby shampoo once a week and almond oil. As she has grown, and her hair (she s 13 months now, and almost WL, her waist of course:grin:!), I use either olive oil or AOHSR to prepoo on dry hair, wash with baby shampoo and then condition with either AOHSR, then seal with almond or jojoba oil. I might co wash mid week,if the weather is warm, with AOHSR. I am using AOHSR because baby conditioners are not readily available here in Germany where I'm based. Also, I am making a glycerin rosewater spritz for the summer.
HTH.

i had the hardest time, tryna figure out to use in my lil boy hair,,, then he go the dreaded cradle cap and all his curlly hair fell out.... if i could do it all over again, i would use olive oil or coconut oil on his hair...

Thank you ladies...Anymore ideas?

When my grandbaby was born I only co-washed her hair with conditioner. I found a good one at Whole Foods that didn't contain any harsh chemicals. If I shampoo'd I only did it with a shea butter shampoo bar.

You should check out the children's forum too for some ideas.

For DD, I used only coconut oil in the beginning. Washed and conditioned about once a week. DD was a baldy for a very long time though. At 17 months, she's just now sprouting her curly 'fro. Still keeping it simple with a glycerin spritz and that's it!

When my babies were newborns I only used baby wash to wash their hair until about 12 months then I started using diluted dr. bronners. And started cowashing their hair.

I'm using plain ol Johnson & Jonsons No More Tears poo...until I have the time to research a better option. I pre-poo to keep cradle cap away with either jojoba, EVOO, or coconut oil...this step stops cradle cap in its tracks!

I wash her hair every other bath and so far so good.

When my daughter was a newborn I only used water and EVOO. She was born with an afro. I would just gently comb it out and put on a band, or not. When she was about 4 months I put started using aloe vera gel and shea butter and put it in puffs. Those usually lasted 2-3 days. The simpler the better especially when they are so young.

When my son was a newborn (he's 3 now) he had really thick jet black barely wavy hair. It didn't start to get curly until he was 6 months. In the beginning I rinsed it with luke warm water and poo'd with a dime size amt of J&J baby shampoo. Then put a little jojoba in it as a leave-in. I did that until he turned 1 and his hair started getting kinkier. Then I was using a small amt of my CON Green label and still jojoba as a leave in. Now that he is a pre-schooler his hair type is a cross between 3c/4a and he gets sand in his hair just about everyday. I have to wash more freq. I only use Wen on his hair now with some soft sheen as a leave in/ detangler. I keep it really simple with him and pick out a little TWA. Now that it's getting warming I cut his hair but still use Wen all the time.
