HEY LHCF!

I have a question. How many of you on the board are transitioning but continuing to straighten your hair?

How many have transitioned and continued to straighten your hair?

and

What are your regimens and how did you keep your hair from breaking off?

I'm still transitioning, and I keep my hair straight. Now when I'm totally relaxer free, I'm going to sport some wash and gos and straight styles. Keeping it straight now is just the easiest way for me to deal with both textures now.

That's how I feel. I can't wait to be fully natural and a tad bit longer so I can do wash and go's. The protective styles haven't really been working for me.

What is your regimen and how many times a month do you flat iron or press your hair?

When I was transitioning to help me stay straight I used Mizani Thermasmooth and Chi Silk infusion with flatironing and it worked. My hair would stay straight from sunday night to friday night even with me working out twice a day. Oh and I sweat!

I kept my hair straight through my transition. I washed/deep conditioned once every 7-10 days, blowdried, then flat ironed. I always used a ton of heat protectant (CHI silk infusion) and my hair was fine.

I have a lot of people in my ear telling me I can't transition and keep my hair straight without breakage, so I was curious to hear from the ladies on the board. Thanks ya'll.

IMHO, keeping it all one texture prevents breakage. :yep: Just make sure you deep condition regularly and use heat protectant, and you should be fine!

I'm transitioning by keeping my hair straight without breakage. I shampoo my hair, and I deep condition, and then I blow dry and flat iron. I do my hair every 7 to 14. However, it's VERY seldom that I can wait 14 days.

That is what I have been thinking for the longest time. Even though I haven't transitioned, I notice my hair is easier to manage when I keep it all one texture late in a stretch. I am trying to do a 6 month stretch and that is what I will be doing.

I'm about 11 weeks post and I've been washing, blowdrying and flatironing since about week six. I like it... Just combing down my wrap is less time consuming that trying to pull my hair back into a bun or ponytail every day, and blowdrying and flat ironing is less time consuming as well (and I'm short on time!)

I'm really thinking of asking for a Chi or Sedu for Christmas and just stretching until I'm sure that I don't want to transition. (Because right now I'm not really sure whether I want to stay relaxed or not... :look: )

I am wondering if its too stressful on my hair to wash it every 4 days, air dry, blow out, then flat iron. Would that be fine if I kept the curl of my hair by roller setting or bantu knotting for spirals, instead of using the flat iron or curling iron on it. I can't bun because my hair is too short, and I can wash and go because I still have straggly ends and I really do not look that nice with the short afro.

Also my curl pattern is not consistent. I have big loose spiral curls in the back, tightly coiled in the middle or crown, spiral curls on the sides, and waves on the stop of my head, and I'm really not understanding it to much. Maybe when it gets longer and all the relaxed hair is gone I'll have a better understanding of my curl pattern.

I'm still transitioning and I wash & deep condition every week and blow dry on cool-med then I moisturize and wrap it and it stays straight until next wash.

I think it's completely possible. My hair seems to be doing fine...

I am 8 months post and alternate between wearing it straight (mostly rollersets/flat ironing roots, but I have also actually blowdried it and then flat ironed some) and wearing it with texture (Braidouts with ends curled).

Thank you sooooooosososoooooo much! This is the answer I have been waiting to hear. I recently made the decision to transition (last relaxer 8 weeks) and it's not good look with my work out schedule (4-5 times weekly) and my 4b hair in need of a haircut to provide shape. My hair gets very wet when I work out, especially in the back, lower portion around the neck.

Are you washing your hair between Sunday - Friday? Do you flat iron afterward?

Any details you share are appreciated!
