Hi, I'm Cho, new to the board. My dream is to have hair at least to my bra strap...though, I wish for waist length hair...

I don't even know where to begin though.

I'm mixed, my father is black, my mum is white..and none of us know how to take care of my hair. My dad always kept his really short, so, has no idea...and my mum, well, has never had to deal with my type of hair. When I was younger, places used to flat out say, we don't know how to do her hair, don't bring her here..

My hair is relaxed, and poofy. Not as poofy as it is naturally...my natural hair is a tumble weed and unmanagable.I seem to have the worst of both hair types.. I've done a decent job with my hair, but when it gets to the ends...I have no clue how to fix them, and they always break. I have started using the new Pantene line, and it does leave my hair more managable....but my ends are still bad...

Well, so I stop rambling, does anyone have any tips on how to reach my goal, with multicultural hair? I'm lost..

Sorry for the long post. ^-^

You will get great advice here. Do you know what your hair type is? If it is 2a-3c then there are alot of ladies on this board with this hair type so maybe take a look at their routines.

Hi YamisGirl! Welcome aboard. I think conventional wisdom is that if you keep your ends protected, you can achieve long hair. And since your ends seem to be your main concern, I highly recommend you check out Adrienne's Bun Technique (Click on the thumbnails to read directions). And if you need proof that it really works in helping one reach his/her goals, check out Adrienne's hair growth journey. Some success story huh? Good luck in making the same progress in yours.

Welcome! There are many ladies with multicultural hair on this board. What is your regime like?Do you know why your ends are always breaking?Do you use heat often?Heat abuse used to cause my ends to be always brittle and breaking. Also if your hair drags on rough fabrics that can leave your ends a mess. Also the ends are the oldest part of your hair and should be taken extra special care of.I have noticed way less split ends since I started paying my ends extra attention by using a nice water based moisturizer on them.
Hope that helps!

Though there are many other tips that might be of interest to you on that thread I didn't want you to miss the "Relaxed Hair" post as a FYI. HTH (Hope that Helps) as well!

Hello Newbie.
I share your frustruation girl. I am biracial and it took me a while to learn how to care for my hair....here is what works for me.....first shampoo my hair once every 2 weeks but I condition every other day and deep condition once per week.
I moisturize my hair 2 times per day...concentrating on my ends. I stay wearing my hair in protective styles. I basically went back to how my hair was cared for when I was little...beofore the chemical experimentations....relaxers do not work for me....I decided to love what God gave me.

All newbies need to get seamless combs and satin caps/pillowcases/scarves. You can get them at http://www.tenderheaded.com if you local beauty supply doesn't stock them.
Onazi's washing regimen sounds great. Also remember to use a protein conditioner every once in awhile if you relax. Check out the Features of the Month section, linked from the homepage. All of the features have great advice and since there is a range of types, some of them have your same hairtype as well.
Welcome to the board!
