I’m so disgusted w/ my hair always falling out at the nape and being so full at the crown. I like layers but can never maintain my length b/c nape is always falling out. When I got color it was the only thing that fell out, when I wear a wig it always fall out, even thought I wear a cape and don’t have it pulled tight. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to grow it back quickly and strong .

My avatar is my nape now and my signature is nape in may.:feedback:

I would suggest to stop using chemicals for awhile. (at least don't retouch the nape) until it starts to grow back. Also maybe you should try a protein treatment to combat the breakage you are having right now. Do you wear your hair down a lot? Try some protective styles to avoid your hair rubbing against clothing. There are some products that could aid in your growth like MTG or BT. I haven't tried BT but it is natural and a lot of ladies on this board use it. One of the of board members is the creator of it. I forgot her name but you can do a search on BT and you will get a lot of info. Try moisturizing that area to as often as possible. I hope this helps you. I would lay off of the heat styling as well for awhile.

Thanks for the direction Shortdub78. I’m currently at 7wks post relaxer hoping to go 10wks and looking more into this texlax thing. I was reading about BT and the creator so i may go ahead and try it. I'm very new, like one week, and i don't know what MTG is but i keep seeing it popup everywhere so i will look into it. i chopped everything off to shaved in the back about two years ago and it still feels like i'm shaving it.

i've been mostly wearing wigs and phony ponies for the past two years b/c i had a baby and didn't really have time for styling. when i do wear my hair down i do a roller set that's why i can't understand why i keep breaking off back there.
Again, Thanks for the newbie help!:peace:
sorry for the typo's in my first post:ohwell:

You certainly aren't alone with that issue (see avatar). Your nape is actually a lot longer than mine. I have had breakage with my neck for as long as I can remember. The rest of my hair is fine, but the moment I slip up or get a bit lazy, my nape is the first to suffer.

I have major problems with my nape (in fotki). I think its because when people relax your hair they overlap on your nape if it is already short and just slop the relaxer on the whole nape. So it just gets overprocessed over and over again. I am going to start getting my nape relaxed every other relaxer (so about every 6 months). And also, napes can be bad if when you wash and condition you don't pay attention to it. Alot of times when I used to wash I used to put conditioner on it last and not section my nape off. Now I take care of my nape first because I realized my nape is why my hair is looking so thin.

I want to add this. The hair at my name is a different texture than the rest of my ULTRA 4B hair. It is between a 3C/4A, and stylists used to relax the back first. That is how I would lose my hair. Now, I am adamant about them relaxing my crown and front first. For you, it might be helpful to determine if you have a different texture in your nape area.
