Sorry Isis, i meant when its wet, after you put it in the hair band, do you comb it with a big or a thin tooth comb to put it on the rollers?
I comb when wet with a big or large tooth comb to put the hair on the rollers.:) I don't have a thin tooth comb.

Thank you, heres my new regimen:

I tex-relax every 12 weeks with motions salons herbal (lye)
I colour every 12 weeks with react seinna semi permanent colour
I trim once every 12 weeks

I wash my hair once every 2 weeks. I either use moisture or protein.

Moisture:

1. I detangle with Kemi Oil and Pre Poo with Suave conditioner for about 10 minutes.
2. I wash with Keracare 1st lather poo, then their hydrating poo.
3. I condition with keracare humecto for 20 minutes under the steamer.
4. I detangle with Salerm 21 and then rollerset with NTM silk touch leave in.
5. I flat iron the roots/1st inch or so
6. I make 2 large pincurls at the back of my head and put my hair net and silk scarf on for bed.

Protein:

I use protein at week 4 and week 10. Everything else is the same except step 2 and 3 where i use the Motions CPR poo and con.

During the week every few days or so I use Keracare oil sheen or essential oils lightly in sections.
I finger comb and dont use a comb for the next 2 weeks until wash day. I see hardly any breakage this way.

The most important things have been finding products that detangle well and help straighten frizzy hair. These are the Keracare poo and con, salerm 21 and NTM. During the 2 weeks my hair isn't hard to manage, its only when its wet and now i am trying to be more patient.
Thanks for sharing your regimen Lonei, it looks like a very good one. You answered my question about whether or not you still wear pincurls to keep your style when going to bed. I see you make two large ones in back and cover it with a net, then a silk scarf. Does the net keep it in place better than just wearing the scarf? I've never used a hair net, just wondering if I should buy some...

Edited to add:
I saw you answered my question in your album - thank you! I'm going to Sally's to stock up on basics and I'll get some hairnets.

Whew your hair looks sooo LONG! I love it! And I have the same problem: over 50% of my hair is texrelaxed and it can only get straight with a flat iron.

Go Lonei!!

Yes Isis, I find that the pin curls come out if I just use a scarf, i also tried a large net and again they just fall out of place. A small net keeps them secure, and its not too tight at all, I can hardly feel it.

Thanks everyone for the support and good luck on your quests for healthy long hair!!!

Cool!!!!

I love this board and learning new methods. I'm going to try that (my hair is much much much shorter than yours though). I started to texlax my hair as of my last relaxer on 12/23, so I need to learn new ways of dealing with the 2 textures, when I want to wear my hair out (though I'm mostly doing protective styles).

If you have any tips for transitioning to texlaxed it would be helpful.

Anyway thanks for posting this.

I sure didnt texlax out of choice, I wanted it bone straight!!! My main tips are to be patient with it when its wet, especailly when it comes to detangling, find products that work for you and stick with them, understand that straight styles without additional heat may be dificult but not impossible to acheive. I have only recently started using the flat iron and although I coped before, the fact that all the strands are uniform and straight makes it a bit easier to handle.

Can I ask what is the difference between the ponytail rollerset and a traditional rollerset

I just find it easier to do, it helps get the roots straighter and i can position the rollers without snagging the hair on the silver clips.

Hey Lonei! Very Pretty, Long and Healthy!!! :yep: I've never heard of this method before. What made you try this? I'm going to try it too. :) My hair also started doing the "tex-laxed" thing and that's one of the reasons I decided to transition. I figured "why fight it". :)

Thanks everyone. I found this method here, i think it was called something like 'an alternative for hopeless rollersetters' i just adapted it to my own hair needs. I owe it all to the LHCF!!! Let me know how it goes. Thanks

Beautiful hair lonei. I noticed you're from St.Lucia; I'm from St.Kitts it's nice to see other West Indians on LHCF

Your hair looks GREAT!!! I'm glad you're posting on LHCF again.
Question: In your regimen you say you detangle with oil. Do you
use a comb or do you finger comb? TIA
