I am getting ready to wash and press my hair
for a photoshoot..

I am inneed of a good pressing cream that isn't greasy ladies..Please help me out..
My sister gave me a ceramic iron it works well..I haven't pressed my hair in a year..I ONLY press it once a year ...After the shoot I am braiding my hair back up..I'm VERY excited...I love my hair...I just bought some shampoo and conditioner over the weekend..Im going to pamper my hair today..Washing , Conditioning, Oiling....
I was thinking of calling a salon about the pressing cream but I don't want to deal with attitude from a stylistis who might insist that I come in and she'll press, cut *NOT TRIM* Mu hair..I don't want this..I enjoy taking care of my own hair..I just need a NON-GREASY Pressing cream..

Thanks ladies *smile* and Gentleman if there are any on this board..

I've always been wanting to try Dudley's pressing creme from the reviews i've read but i have yet to try it or press my hair. I think you get it at JC Penny's salon though.

I suggest Dudley's Creme press too-it has gotten a lot of good reviews. I am currently using Blue Magic Pressing Oil and I don't like it...so I hope to find something else that works better soon. Also, what kind of braids do you wear in your hair and does it help aid in hair growth?

My hair dresser uses Dudley's. My hair will hold a press for more than a week if I don't work out. I don't even have to roll it for the first week.

If you can't find Dudley's try Ultra Sheen Creme press. For both, a little goes a long way.

My hairdresser's technique (and now mine too).
Wash and deep condition
Section and Pre-dry (hood for her, air dry for me)
Put creme press on each section of the hair and blow dry.
Press hair (you won't need more creme).

Good Luck!

I will try Dudley's hair press..
Ohh Natori24, Blue Magic is VERY bad for the scalp because it's basically petroleum jelly..Not good!
That grease reminds me of the 80's and the greasy sideburns I use to wear as a kid..LOL

As for the "hair growth while in braids", Yes, it helps my hair..I have a ton of new growth and I wash my braids every Friday...I think that's a little too often though...But I get addicted to the cleanliness of my hair and the softnes after I condition it...
My hair has been growing but I really don't fuss with it too much, that's where the braids come in..My hair grows because I'm lazy with styling, though I keep it clean..I only go ALL out when I'm shooting for my portfolio..I'll be glad when my hair is reaching my hips, then I'll be satisfied..It's a little past my waist now..
I'm greedy, I know! LOL

Oh, as for a "pressing oil", I'm not sure which is good to use. Back in the day, I used anything with petroleum... even Vaseline  .... Wish I had a good rec for ya'.... Hoping the other ladies will post more recs

I have been using Dudley's on my little girl and it is great. it does the job without the heavy greasy look and feel. Her hair holds the press for at least 2 weeks. I press it myslef and I love the stuff. Ultra sheen is good too. never use the royal corwn and the blue magic, all of those are so heavy.

I don't use it on my scalp. It's the pressing formula, so I only use it on my hair to press not my scalp.
