New Growth?

I can't tell whether or not I have new growth. I got a relaxer on Dec.22 but in the back I can feel new growth 'waves'. The front of my hair doesn't have any waves though. I let my hair air dry so could this be causing the waves? Is this new growth? If it is, why is it just in the back? Thanks in advance.

If you don't get your relaxed hair bone straight, that could be the waves you're noticing.

My new growth always starts in the back and there's always more new growth back there too.

My hairdresser always relaxes my hair bone straight so I don't actually get waves after airdrying until the 4th week or so.
