Ladies,

I've been transitioning for almost 5 months now. I've got about 3 inches of new growth. My natural hair has BEAUTIFUL waves when it's really wet but as my hair dries my waves seem to fade away and frizz. I've read about "plopping" as away to maintain my waves/curls. Does this work for hair that's transitioning due to the relaxed ends? If so, can anyone recommend products I can use to try to retain my waves and KILL the FRIZZ?!! :ohwell:

i plopped when i transitioned, but I did it more to not ruffle the hair (for easier detangling/styling) vs trying to maintain waves/curls. Have you tried just using an organic moisturizing conditioner as a leave in. That always worked for me...

If you are a type 4 and you were fully relaxed, then no...you cannot plop while transitioning. It won't work.
But if you're hair is not fully relaxed straight then you might get a decent result.

oh, THAT's plopping? i do that to air dry!

except i take the result & pin it up into a bun. + i'm relaxed. makes my new growth curl up, but the length still stays straight (of course).

no matter what, the relaxed ends are not going to curl up with this method. maybe you could use small flexi rods on damp hair in addition to plopping?

I still don't even know what my hair type is. I've posted a few pics on here to see if others may be able to help me figure it out but haven't gotten much help. :nono: I'm thinking I maybe a 3b? But I'm clueless. :ohwell: I went to a link for Oprah's stylist Andre where he describes the various hair types but I still don't know where I fit in. (sigh)
