drappedup and Bnster.... i must say thank you and you 2 are too right!!! i know i have let the nay sayers jade me when it comes to hair advise. when people ask about my hair i almost immediately go into "oh here we go again" and get on the defense. i've had too many experiences now where i've actually been teased like i'm in grade school by grown *** women for putting evoo in my hair! REALLY??? REALLY?!?!?

but you're right. had someone come up to me 3yrs ago and said "hey mo! if you wash your hair with shampoo 1x per month and use CONDITIONER to wash your hair 1x per wk, then when you get out the shower, put a lil leave in and evoo in your hair and you'll be good to go!" i'd be like "what are you smoking?!"

it wasnt until i was in tears about my hair and desperate for help that i accepted these alternative methods.

i've let the meany doo-doo heads take away my hair happy... i will not let them any more!

Yeah but then nobody remember your hair wasn't long before. They start believing that your hair is long and healthy because you have "good hair". You can never please people like that.
This is EXACTLY why I am glad my sister's hair is thriving right along with mine. My cousins have been teasing me for having good hair since I was knee high; they are the very reason I ever got a relaxer in the first place. They always told her the exact opposite, so she is sort of my proof that healthy hair practices work for EVERYONE.

Now that my hair is long (since apparently "good hair" meant my hair grew to SL effortlessly, but never any longer than that), one of them has started complaining to me about how her hair won't grow and keeps breaking, just waiting for me to offer advice so she can rip it to shreds. When I ask how often she relaxes, she proudly tells me anything over 4 weeks will have her head "itching like crazy". When I suggest that she switches to ORS or something over Dark and Lovely, she says that it's "too expensive". Her response to me asking if she deep conditions EVER? "I'm too lazy to do all that stuff to my hair like you do." Alright then, your lazy behind will have EL hair the rest of your life.
I'm about done with giving hair advice. People don't want to listen, so I'll save my breath. That includes posters who want to sent 75 PMs trying to dissect why they aren't retaining, only to find out they are neglecting to do the very basics (like covering hair at night, and wearing PS at least SOME of the time. SMFH.)
I absolutely hate those threads....you know, the ones where the poster says they are frustrated by their lack of growth/retention but admit they hate PSing. Or the ones that say "has anyone gotten to MBL/WL/etc without PSing???" I mean yeah, there are a few people, but a few buns or a little crown and glory won't kill you...and you will probably get there a lot faster.

I try to tell women in my family about hair care, but only if they ask. Even then, I only offer MINIMAL information. (I SO AGREE WITH LOVIE in that regard)! These are the same ones rolling their eyes when they saw me on this site on my pc/reading about hair, or rudely ignored me when I would start talking about hair care. By this time next year, I will have enough hair for 3-4 of them to make a wig wit. If they keep up those damaging practices, they will surely need one. Love fam, but you can't tell some people NOTHIN.
