For S. followers only...please, no negative comments (I already know the controversy and I simply don't care):
It's near summer and I am tweaking my routine until late Fall.
I haven't bought Shima's dvd nor book but I saw one vid mentioning something about oiling the hair enough to last the period you keep the protective styling.
Can someone give me that technique? You oil after you dry or with wet hair? Any other conditioners etc.? I have made my own mix of Wonder 8 Ginseng/Jojoba/Grapeseed Oil/Almond Oil and my new growth is coming in very thickly. I don't want to texlax this time around until it's several inches in length...maybe 6-10". Her hair is not greasy, is pliable and moist when she gently combs. I need that again with these tangly locs. I'm recovering from major damage and am not cutting. It's gotten 70% better already...just need advice.
I gave up on the Indian oils...rose-scented castor oil was the most recent. I can't deal with the smell and the castor oil is so thick and sticky ..not for my hair type. I don't like shea butter in my hair...avocado butter is eh...okay...better on my feet and I bought this huge 4 lb tub. I'm back to moisturizing overnight oil treatments like ghee (can't use that every day at work!). I'm doing the ghee deep treatment on the weekends but need something to help me "set" the protective style (loose bun) during that period with my own mix mentioned above. Any help would be appreciated on her bunning method post-wash which doesn't seem to be greasy at all.
Note: something happened to the board and I'm wondering if my post was deleted for some reason since it had her name in the title. Sigh.... I'm not looking for controversy. I like her technique and her hair is very much like mine. I just need the particulars.
