Need Advice (kinda long)

When I hit waist I stop
Hi- I'm new to the group but I've kinda been lurking for awhile and I finally decided that it was just time to join

I'm 17 years old and I haven't had my hair permed in about 2 years,( it's now a 100% natural ) since I stopped perming it I would go to the salon and have my hair washed and flat iron. I stopped doing that in May, because my hair really needed a break and it was just plain annoying.

So I decided to look around and find out what I could do with the craziness that was my hair. Now I've been taking care of it but it hasn't grown. I mean it's healthier but it's still the same length it was 3 months ago and I was hoping I could get some advice on what I'm doing wrong or how I could tweak my regimen.

Well since it's been summer I've been condioning my hair everyday when I take a shower and washing it once a week. I use NTM shampoo and Garnier Fructis conditioner for dry or dammaged hair. Once a week I'll use the NTO hair mask and as a leave in I use NTO leave in conditioner and Olive and Clove oil.

I take vitamins but it's just a multi-vitamin and some calcium, I don't know if this is bad but I do brush my hair when it's wet but only with boar bristle brushes and I only comb my hair with a wide- tooth comb.

Now that winter is coming I have no clue what to do with my hair, so any advice on anything is much appreciated.

It sounds like you're doing some good things, but I was wondering....
How do you wear your hair daily?
How do you care for you hair at night? Satin scarves, pillowcases, etc.
Do you manipulate alot?
Do you use heat?
Sorry for all of the questions.

It's ok, I asked for the help and I'm glad I'm getting it, I usually wear it up in my afro puff, just cause it's easy. I used to just put a scarf on my head and go to sleep but now I've started combing it out and puttin it into 2 braided.

No heat on my hair except for about every 8 weeks when I get my hair trimmed, I usually just put it up and leave it alone.

I have a question where can I get a satin scarf? I know silly question but yea

Do you think you may be trimming off most of your growth during your trims. How much do you trim? I see the most growth when I trim less. I trim 2-4 times per year.

I bought a 100% silk scarf on sale, from a major department store. You can also try the satin wrap/scarves they sell in wal-mart or walgreens. They work pretty well also.

Here's a pic from Reniece's album ( I hope she doesn't mind)

Have you ever tried two-strand twists? They are an absolute staple of mine, especially during winter months when daily washing is not an option. They also keep your hair very well moisturized, which cuts down on the need for trims. I agree w/ KT- you may be trimming too much to see any length. Also, do you ever straighten your hair (rollerset/press)? Sometimes just stretching it does not show how much it has actually grown...

Maybe its the condition of your hair everyday that is damaging your hair.Conditioning that frequently isnt really good for natural hair because all the manipulation leads to breakage.

Maybe a good B vitmain supplement will help the problem along with a visit form surge?!

I tried them once, but they came out kinda crack-heady

and I wouldnt go out the house in them. Is there a thread or a site that shows a good way to do them, since I thin it would be nice to wear them

I very rarely straighten my hair, only when I need a trim or it's gettin braided, which is infrequent.

Maybe it is the CW...hmmm..
