Need a pep talk...Mad stylist

Okay, so I went to "treat" myself to a hair do....wow what a treat! Yeah, my hair looks great, but at a high cost. The following crimes were committed:

Rough Detangling,
Rough blowdrying,
Rough combing,
Multiple Heat treatments (accompanied by "the burn smell"),
and last but not least....scissors.

I feel like such a sucker because I allowed all of this to take place. I mean I said something about it, but I still sat there :ohwell:

Luckily I came out of it with no visibile damage, but I am a whole 1 inch shorter than I went in there with. Now mind you I just got a trim a couple months ago and I know I didn't need much of anything taken off. She said she would just "lightly trim" for a clean look....well yeah uh huh. Just wanted to share.

Wow ... are you in Atlanta, because it sounds like we went to the same stylist! :spinning: I just went through everything you just said in your post, only my assault occurred yesterday.

Don't worry about the 1-inch trim though. Just think about how much better your hair will swing and style.

Your Siggy! :tantrum:, I realize I am stating the obvious, but that was a whole year worth of TLC and sacrifice.

To both of you I just can't even....I don't know....how could they...I am speechless. :nono:

Fortunately, you both know what to do to get the length back.:yep:

I had that experience my very last relaxer touch up. How she treated my hair is actually what stopped me from going back, hence never relaxing again because I lost trust in stylists. I too was fortunate not to have suffered damage, but I refuse to ever let anyone take their anger out on my hair again.

Your hair is gorgeous BTW....

But yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking was that she was angry. She isn't new to me or anything either. Now that I think about it, I can say with some degree of certainty that she was "hatin'". How did I not see this coming...Gees!

I hate coming out of the salon feelin' played.:nono:
My stylist is excellent for the most part, but every now and then
she get's a little crazy with it. I made an agreement with myself
that I'll only let her flat iron or trim it strictly on a "need-to" basis.
From now on, I'll come to the shop already washed, dc'ed, etc.
The less time they have to spend in your hair, the less damage they can do to it.

It's not worth the risk after we work so hard to take care of our hair then we pay them to mess it up. I only go to hairdressers for touch-ups b/c I am tired of the rough handling and scissor happy ways. I get tired of having to tell hairdresser's;

1) Not to use the fine toothcomb on my dry or wet.
2) To comb thru my hair gently. (Have you noticed hairdressers don't start at the ends when combing thru your hair.)
3) To gently use the comb attachment or brush when blow-drying.
4) The blowdryer is too hot it's burning my scalp or the hooded dryer is too hot I am sweating.
5) Invest in a ceramic iron for relaxed hair, the temperature of the barrel is more uniform then stove irons.

It's time we start speaking out more and not giving these people our money. I know there are hairdressers out there who are gentle, patient, and listen.

The exact same thing happened to me the first time I returned to the beautician in a long time. He was rough and not gentle, basically all of the things you said to a 't.' my hair came out looking fab and about 3 inches shorter but I couldn't stand how much of my thick hair came out. It was still thick but I only went back to him one more time without a relaxer, then the third time I got a relaxer and rollerset. That was June 7 and I haven't been back since and won't go again until my touch up next year in June/July.

If you had a relaxer and she still was that rough then she isn't the stylist for you. I got a relaxer so I could minimize the blow drying and flat ironing, since with roller set you just sit under a medium heat until dry and finger comb. Trying to keep it simple for me and him!:lachen:
