I commend you! You were right to loudly declare what you didn't want her to do! I hear too many horror stories from ladies on this board about their stylists cutting their hair off when they specifically asked them not to. If I used to still go to salons, I wouldn't have even debated with her...I would've got up off of that chair and left. If I go to a salon I expect to get the services I requested. You shouldn't leave a salon feeling depressed or all stressed out about your hair.
Stylists have gotten their way for so long. They just think they can do anything to your hair and get away with it. I'm glad you got loud. Maybe next time she will just do what you asked. She already got away with the blow drying. I hope your braids look good. Don't let her stop your goal!
I am glad you stood your ground and the title of this thread is not "horrible experience at the salon" or something. I hope your braids look good.
In the future, would learning to do the braids yourself be an option? I had zero experience with styles of any kind before I found LHCF, but I learned how to braid and twist with extensions, saving myself both the headache of dealing with persistent stylists and the huge labor upcharges at salons. That way, you can keep wearing braids during your transition.
Good luck with the rest of your transition. I hope if you did let her run the scissors up the braids, none of your actual hair is damaged.
I'm gald you spoke up because most of time people don't. They let the stylist do what they want to anyway and then declare they had no idea the person was doing it. Good for you.
