How do you use it? I have read posts of relaxed heads using it, but I don't remember any naturals.

My co-worker was very kind to bring me a bottle to work after I just came back off vacation. She is so sweet!!!:D

The smell is nice too.

Thanks in advance.

I use it and I love it after one treatment my hair is shinier and feels silky its pretty strange but it works, I saturate my hair with it, then put it in 4 big braids, put a plastic cap and then my satin sleep cap, I sleep with it at night, in the morning I saturate my hair with conditioner and then rinse it off and proceed to add my leave-ins etc, my hair loves amla oil I do this twice a week, hth

I'm not natural ,but I assume you could use it the same way; to seal in moisture, add to DC, use as a pree-poo, use for an intense shine and it also darkens the hair or keeps it dark if you already have dark hair. It's also a good treatment for dandruff and scalp iritations. I used it on my 2 year old when she had a few spots of flakiness and she has not had any more since. That was a few months ago. HTH

Wow, I'm going to have to try this...thanks for letting me know how to use it!

BTW...your hair is awesome!

I use it in EVERYTHING!

I use it with my conditioners

I use it when I do oil treatments with a conditioning cap

I use it in my shampoos

I use it in my henna's and shikaikai pastes.

I use it in my homemade daily spritz

There isn't a day go by that I don't use it in something

I read amla was used to return/add texture to hair. I think it was in a henna thread. Any problems with that?

Really (at the bolded)...hmmm..I think I might have to wait this out then because my hair got lighter from the sun and I love it so I don't want to darken it again. Maybe after summer is over then I'll use it. Thanks for letting me know about how to use it though....:p

Wow, this must be really good oil to use for naturals. Thanks.

This is basically coconut oil infused w/amla. Use it as you would any other hair oil - with a light touch - for shine, luster, conditioning, scalp massage, etc. Its good for any hair type natural or relaxed. I haven't found any darkening effect from coconut oil or amla however this might be something reported by someone who had naturally light colored hair.

When I started using it I thought it would darken my hair because I've read that it does darken overtime so I went to the indian store in brooklyn and the indian lady there who's hair is amazing btw, I ask her why my hair isn't getting darker I've been using it for months now she said if I don't have chemicals in my hair it would not darken it she said it would only darken if you have a perm or something.. It have never darken my hair just made it stronger, I get the best out of amla oil when I sleep with it overnight, and thanks for the compliment chica:)

I love it, has not changed my texture, not sure about my hair being darker since I have used it, but it wouldn't matter, I don't mind a darker color.

Coconut Oil, really? I did not see coconut oil in the ingrediants. I appreciate you letting me know about it not having a darkening effect.

Blessings.

Ohhhhh...yeah! I'm glad about this..then, I will use it this weekend and see what happens. I'll let you all know.

Thanks so much!

I just got mine from the local Indian store and I am using it as a leave-in overnight and then rinsing out in the morning! Shine baby shine!!

I'm looking at the ingredients right now and I'm not seeing coconut oil???????? Anyhoo this is what the bottle says!

Amla oil combines the goodness of amla fruit which is gooseberry with a blend of vegetable and mineral oils to promote long, healthy hair, amla oil has been the secret of beautiful hair in india and around the world for over 50 years, for best result use 3 to 4 times a week.

Ingredients
Parffinum liquidum, canola oil, palm glycerides, amla(emblica officinalis) extract in canola oil, fragrance, t-butyl hydraoquinone(anti oxidant)

And that's it! Unless coconut oil have another name!

^^ Mineral oil. You can get the benefits of amla without the mineral oil carrier base. Just buy a packet of amla (available at most Indian stores) and infuse it in a jar of coconut oil. I've been making my own for a while now and I couldn't tell you the name of the store bought (Indian shop) brand I used but it didn't have mineral oil in it.

I have tried the pure amla oil I ordered it, but there's something about the dabur amla oil with those^^particular ingredients that makes a difference, and I've tried them the way you suggested and dabur amla oil and my hair loves dabur amla oil its like night and day!

oh really?? i have the str8 amla oil. maybe i'll try the dabur. i guess a bss would carry it right?

You could try the indian stores, everytime I go to the indian store the lady laughs at me she said they sell out so fast she can't order enough, she said I'm the first black chick to come in and ask for amla oil, she said majority indian chicks buy them buy them by the bottles, so she had none the last time I went and I ordered it from indianblend.com or indianblends.com, she told me about the vatika oil also and I love it...

I add conditioner, amla and some water.

Sometimes I will mix the shikaikai, bringhgjai and amla in a glass bowl with distilled water and boil it for about 15 minutes. Then strain this through cheese cloth and use the liquid in my henna, conditioners or daily spritz. What I don't use up in two days I freeze. I am looking for those tea bags you can use so that I can just steep these powders in hot water.

Does anyone know where to get the tea bags?

ok so basically i'm on the right track:)
your hair is making great progress too!!!!:D

Well, I used it last night in my hair and put a plastic cap on, along with my scarf and went to bed. I rinsed and did a CW. As of right now, 11:10am, my hair is very soft. I did not add anything else to my hair, just to see how this would work and it did. Thanks to all who shared with me..this will be a staple for sure!!!

Blessings.

With the returning texture situation, my brother can contest to that. He rubbed a little in his hair the other day trying to make his waves shiney. Then about 30 minutes later I guess he looked in the mirror because he was like this stuff makes my hair curl up. So he washes the stuff out of his hair to get his smooth waves back. I guess it does change the texture of people because the it changes the texture of mine too.

Well, for my hair I use it as a pre poo and a light oil to put on my hair. I usually use the light alma or dabur special alma because they dont stink, but i do have all of them. Well with the special and the light alma I put a little bit in my hair to oil the strainds and it turns my hair to silk. I touch my hair and it no longer feels dry or slightly crips. My hair feels like that fluff that very soft plush toys are stuffed with and the strainds are so smooth.

Me too! I  Vatika oil too! I just mix them both in a bottle to save a little time. I have broke out the Amla on my son's hair. He decided he wants braids so he is rocking a TWA right now. He has the DRYEST 4B hair that I have ever seen. The Amla and Vatika has made a huge difference. I also used a little on my baby's scalp. He was begining to get some cradle cap and the oil knocked it right out!

Wow, that's interesting about the texture change.

However, I do like the smell of it....it's different but I like it.

I have to get the lite alma too...that would be nice.

thanks.
