If you were frustrated and wanted desperately to see results in BOTH the health and the length retention of your hair, which of the following you do most consistently?

<ul type="square"> [*]Using Surge
[*]Wearing protective styles non stop
[*]Adhering to a strict vitamin OR diet regimen
[*]Conditioner washes more often
[*]Using more protein based products
[*]Deep conditioning more
[*]Being more militant with moisturizing your hair
[*]Absolutely no heat except for deep conditioning
[*]Combing less/taking more time to comb more gently
[*]Drink 8 glasses of water a day
I know that many of you already encorporate some of these habits into your hair care practices, but if you felt so frustrated that you absolutely had to see some results in a timely fashion just to keep yourself motivated, what would be your plan of attack?

Improving my diet (including drink half my body weight in ounces of water daily) and absolutely no heat...except for deep conditioning...

All are good suggestions, but it just depends on your hair. Sometimes we can do too much to our hair, and it gets tired of us! (You know what they say, "A watched pot never boils!" LOL

) But these are what I would choose from your list:

-Wearing protective styles non stop
-Absolutely no heat except for deep conditioning
-Drink 8 glasses of water a day

I'm working on the protective styles...I think I've become addicted to twists...courtesy of Gabrielle2!

LOL

- I feel ya. I don't do twists too often because my hair tangles quick, fast, and in a hurry. I tend to wear a braided ponytail (stub- LOL), buns, french twists, ooooorrrr french braids.

-protective styles nonstop
-Combing less/taking more time to comb more gently
-Being more militant with moisturizing your hair
-Drink 8 glasses of water a day

Thank you so much for the quick replies. As you may have noticed, I'm feeling frustrated and ready to break out the heavy artillery

I appreciate your opinions

For me..
-Absolutely no heat whatsoever-I haven't used heat on my hair since June of 2001, and my hair is definitely thanking me for it.
-Adhering to a strict diet/vitamin regimen
-Taking the time to carefully detangle hair
-Lots of water
-Exercising

Here's some of the things I started doing:

<ul type="square"> [*]Using Surge
[*]Vitamins
[*]Using a conditioner
[*]Exercising when I find time to
[*]Deep conditioning more
[*]Moisturizing my hair more
[*]Absolutely no heat except for rollersets or blowdrying my hair
[*]Combing less/taking more time to comb more gently
[*]Drinking more water; less to no sodas
For me it would be:

No heat
No-poo daily
No combing unless wet
Deep condition / hot oil treatment once a week
Keeping it moist with daily spritzing
Healthy diet, vitamins, and PLENTY of water
Surge once a day

My hair did a complete 180 when I enforced this routine!

Ditto Especially on being more gentle with the hair. Twists are considered protective right?

What works for me:

1. Minimal heat (last press was Dec '03)
2. Conditioner washes
3. Keeping hair moisturized (spritz as needed)

no heat has done it for me

And this is only because my dryer broke

I am sooooooo not consistent with all of the other methods that were listed. I need to be though.

Lots of water
Adhering to a strict vitamin regime
No heat except deep conditioning
concentrating on moisturizing
using more protein based products
