when you stretch it in it's natural state vs straightening? This is so weird to me....

well. when ur just stretching out a piece of hair, you're applying force to it and it's gonna reach longer. when u straighten the hair, it still hangs naturally and is not being pulled straight down.

yep
when my hair is straightened when I pull on it it'll reach farther down my back than when I just let it hang

I agree you put more force when u stretch it urself vs flat iron/heat

I agree. I keep thinking I have this mad lenght and then when i press it theres not that much to it. I stay away from heat but I would say once every two months I will take a piece and see and I get disappointed and wash it out again. I am glad someone else thought what I did.

That's what I was thinking last night! Before and after I washed my hair and stretched it I thought that it looked extremely close to BSL but figured when I flat iron in December it might not be that close.

Even straightened hair has some shrinkage. That's why.
When my hair is flat ironed (once every blue moon) I can still stretch it a little bit. :)

your hair is da bomb!!!

I notice this!!
I think it's because when you stretch it, you're saying in your mind "Oh, when I press it, it will be much longer cause there's still curl even after I pull/stretch it"

Then when you press it, it's never as long as you think it would be.

Well for me, the hair is just plain different. I have fine/thin hair. When I have straightened it, ya it blows in the wind and all that, but it's just so thin, and my twists look so thin. To me, they dont' look good. But when I stretch it to dry, then twist, it feels thicker/like it has more volume. the twists still hang, and they look like juicy ropes. THat's what I like for my hair to look like. Yes it takes longer to do my hair, but it looks so good! I PREFER to air dry,and put in 8-10 flat twists to stretch it. I works beautifully every time!:D
