Naturals & Caruso steam rollers

Have any naturals had any success using these rollers? If so please provide details like

a) your hair type,
b) did you blowdry 1st,
c) done on wet or dry hair,
d) pictures of outcome would be helpful,
e) and anything else you think would be useful

GREAT questions...I was just wandering about this myself after reviewing the other thread on Caruso rollers! :)

I haven't tried caruso rollers, but I've rollerset my hair at a 6 month transitioning stage. I would rollerset, airdry overnight, then use my ceramic curling iron in the morning. Here's for a possible protocol:

(1) Wash/Condition hair

(2) Rollerset hair; be sure to use end wraps that keep wild and curly ends at bay

(3) Airdry overnight

(4) Use Caruso rollers in morning.

*****

I can see this being pretty awesome. The pre-rollerset helps to truly set a curl and the hot rollers just smooths and enforces it. I might have to give that a try :scratchch

Bumping for more responses . . . hopefully? Perhaps this is a tell tale sign that most naturals don't have success with steam rollers.

I don't own the Caruso's but I'm seriously considering them. Do a search and you will find several theads on naturals and carusos. I'm very intrigued by the claim that they do not revert flatironed/pressed/blowdried hair.

I think I have a picture or two in my album under my texturized album, I don't have any current pictures. I am now fully natural. When I use my caruso rollers, I wash, deep condition, air-dry, flat-iron lightly then apply the rollers. I never get really straight hair (4b), and my hair usually poofs up if I don't use Moisture Block.

I was able to find a picture... I was transistioning with 6 inches new growth. NOT A GOOD PICTURE THOUGH!!!

My sister uses these religiously, and she wanted to try them out on me last night. It says to use on dry hair, so I was thinking I might blow dry first, because I don't think airdrying would do the trick.

I'll try both ways, and if anything besides a poofy mess happens, I'll bump this thread and let ya'll know. :yep:

Thanks a bunch!

I think Isis posted a thread with instructions from an older Caruso set that discussed using them on natural hair. So yes, I believe you can.

They didn't work well for me at all. I banded my hair first so it would be semi-straight. I was hoping the rollers would make a smooth curl but it was very frizzy. It might work good for already roller set hair but that would defeat the purpose for me and wouldn't be worth the money. I figured it wouldn't work for flat ironed hair because of reversion so I didn't even try it.

I did have pics in my fotki but I took them down. Just imagine big fat, frizzy curls.

*BUMP*

Well, I tried the Carusos this weekend, and they didn't work for me. :nono: I'm an amateur when it comes to rolling though, so I would bet for the right person, these would work.

Anyway, I co-washed first, then detangled, then air-dried, and then rolled, using no products.

The results were soft, poofy hair. The pics :perplexed:
