hair bored
 I see from other threads that a lot of naturals on the board have been ordering quite a bit from these natural lines, so I was wondering if you all would give us non PJ's some reviews on your favorite products, as well as the ones you wouldn't buy again. :look: Be sure to include the best products for detangling, moisture, and curl definition!!!

I also didn't have any succes with the Type 2, creme, the type 3 creme, or the herbal hair cocktail. But I know her products do work for some people. I was hoping we could get some reviews from the other lines as well.

Asha's products are fabulous.

I have used the mane attraction, sunkissed, cocoa de leche, shea what?, and hair pudding and all of them are wonderful. The mane attraction and cocoa de leche are thick hair creams. The sunkissed and shea what? (basically sunkissed without beeswax) are shine inducing pomades. And finally the hair pudding is a very very light cream (texture is MUCH thinner than all her other creams) that is wonderful for light moisturizing.

What can I say, the scents are amazing, the prices aren't horrible and the the products work very well (all I use now) for my thick 15" nappy/kinky/coily hair.

ETA: I also tried the myhoneychild rinse out conditioners and shampoos and wasn't thrilled with any of them, although, the smells are amazing and the customer service is very good.

Yippee great thread!

Oyins--Greg juice is great (smells nice), Whipped pudding is a thick-ish but smoooth moisturizer--feels great getting smoothed through wet hair especially, and the Shine and Define was great for a wash and go and is a nice gel for brushing your hair into a ponytail. Overall A+ for Oyin.

Myhoneychild--JUST got the products so I've only used the Herbal Hair Coctail--it smells kinda funny to me....I can't really say how well it (or the TYpe 4 creme) works till I do a full wash and go, conditioning, etc. this weekend! :)

Asha's--it's on it's way!

I have tried Asha's and Oyins...both are well worth it.

Carol's Daughter was my first experience with natural hair products. Great place to start your "natural hair products pj-ism" but a bit expensive. Some of the ingredients stopped agreeing with me...thus my move to Oyins (had to almost hit my sister when she used my Greg juice) and then Asha's (love her "Growth Serum").

I think you will be pleased with either. I sure was.

Great thread Ayanapooh! ;)
I'm getting ready to go out of town but when I get back I'll post about Carol's Daughter, My Honey Child and the afro detangler from growafrohairlong. I'm also thinking about ordering Oyin's Sampler set when I get back. Looking forward to hearing what people say about the Oyin products.

I can only respond on Oyin's Handmade. I love her whipped pudding and Shine n Define serum. WP for moisture and SD for a soft and lovely hold. They smell soooo good. I tried the Hone Hemp conditioner, but my hair wasn't wowed by it...I've heard it's great as a leave-in, I haven't tried it that way. I enjoyed the greg juice, but I'm not restocking just yet. I think if I had to choose one of her products I like the Shine and Define serum the bestest. :)

I also love Oyin's.. GJ, WP and Shine and Define...it absorbs well on my non-scab hair but feels heavy on the scab hair because it can't absorb.

I also love DevaCurl's No Poo and One Condition.. No Poo makes my scalp and hair feel really clean and One Condition feels great.. the smell sucks though..:ohwell:

i tried the honey love moisturiser from honeychild products. i think it is good for relaxed hair. it's very lightweight.

now i am transitioning and i order the sample pack from oyins.
the gregs juice is good. i think it is very hydrating. any hair type can use it.

the whipped pudding is a little thicker than i thougt. it's give moisture but it might be too heavy for relaxed people.

the serum stuff is alot lighter but i think it may be much better for natuals because it's light and it does give great shine but it holds your hair like a gel or hairspray. the hold isn't hard or anything but if your relaxed i don't think u will like the hold but the hold is good for new growth.

so i like the products and they get good rates but i don't feel i will repurchase because they aren't products i really need.

plus i have ahas's stuff on the way.

Devacurl Noopoo works well for me. I like the tingle and the feel of my hair after . I haven't tried the conditioner....yet.
I also like CD hair rinse and healthy hair butter. The butter is heavy but I like to use it when I braid my hair.

Hey Belladonna..have you tried the Low Poo? I'm getting that to use like once a month..

I really like the One Condition..but the smell is pretty bad..it smells chemically..I don't think I like it more than Elucence though..so I figured that I don't need to get the One Condition again.. I got it in a swap.. I like it alot though!! Except for that smell..

Hi Ayanapooh,
Back from vacation...Here are my reviews--kind of embarrassing how much I've tried  Oh well.

MHC:
Love
Coconut milk and Sweet Almond milk (excellent, wet and milky, absorbs easily, makes hair soft, easy to comb & manage).
Coconut jel and Sophia's old fashioned grease--both smell great and easily lay down edges.
Didn't like
Caribean hair activator (can't touch my s-curl)
Herbal hair cocktail (just didn't do anything for my hair)
My Hair needs combination 3/4 creme

CD:
Love
Hair Milk--Creamy and smells divine (IMO). Helps add definition to the sections of my hair that are wavy. Makes my hair feel really soft. A little thick, doesn't immediately melt into hair like MHC hair milk.
Love her oils
Maugerite's Magic--excellent conditioning for my coily kitchen area--this and some s-curl do the trick, making it soft, moist and curly.
Didn't Like
Healthy hair butter--too thick and heavy
Tui shea butter hair smoothie--again, too thick for my hair

GrowAfroHairLong
Afro Detangler--does just what it says, detangles, but nothing else. Smells like nothing. A good basic for someone who doesn't like a lot of products on hair, just help with combing through tangles, etc. I do think its a bit pricey though $20 for 8oz. for what it does.

Hope that helps.

Another Roots user! I love that stuff too :-)

If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm a HUGE Asha's fan. lol.

She just came out with quite a few products, pomades that range heavier to ligher. Great leave in's and oils. I think she's addressed a good variety of hair type needs with her line of products.

Oyin

Love: define and shine. Its everything it says. Hold, moisture, and shine. A little goes a long way.
hate: whipped pudding. too waxy!!!
love/hate: Greg juice. Great in the summer but can be a little iffy in the winter. I think its the whole "glycerine-needs-moisture-in-the-air" thing. But it really works well in the summer.

RushGirl, OK so I just bought the conditioner. Is that PJism???? I will let you all know yeh or nah. As for the smell, I guess it doesn't phase me, cause I don't even remember it.

Are Asha's products good for all hair textures, relaxed, natural?

I think on her site that she says it works for everybody. I just ordered some last week and I cant wait to try it. Im only 7 weeks post relaxer but I am not relaxing again and I hope this stuff works for me. I am thinking about ordering some Roots though.

I have tried CD and didn't like it, I Tried several products from my honeychild and I did not like them at all, I only use her Deep Conditioners, I tried all the Type 2.3,4 hair creams,Herbal Cocktail Leave In, Aloe Vera Leave In, Coconut Hair Milk etc. and they all did not work and smelled terrible, But I do want to try her Afroko Hair Lotion but she don't have that one in a sample so I won't be trying that one.

Ashas I haven't tried But I will Soon.

Qhemet Biologics- I Love Everything!

OyinHandmade- I Love Her Greg Juice, I tried the Whipped Pudding and serum and they did nothing for me, but was a great body lotion.

I am trying a few more companies Like Curls & Blended Beauty & Jessicurl and I will post my results when I get them.

I've tried Jane Carter Solution Nourish and Shine and the Hair Serum. I really like them mixed but I won't buy again because they are very slow on shipping and Naturallycurly.com doesn't carry the serum. I think I'm going to try Asha's next.

Oyin: Overall Grade is A-
Whipped Pudding: Love it! LOVE it! The smell, and how silky it makes my hair feel. It IS a little heavy, but I like the fact that it weighs down my hair some.
Shine & Define: Haven't REALLY used it that much - I might try it on some of my twists next time instead of WP.
Greg Juice: Hated it! But then, my hair does NOT dig glycerine.
Poobar: Have it, haven't used it because I'm a cowasher, still not giving it up.
HoneyHemp Conditioner: LOVE it! It's my only leave-in - never used it as a 'regular' conditioner.

Qhemet: Overall grade is C-
I ordered the sampler pack, hated everything. It all felt too oily, and not 'creamy' enough. Also, I had gotten the Oyin sampler pack first, and everything smelt so clean and pure - the Qhemet stuff definitely smelled more chemical -like. I actually swapped my sampler pack for some essential oils - I tried it ONCE on my hair, and knew I had something for a trade.

I haven't ordered from any of the others - I'm all into homemade stuff now. I'm trying to make a Whipped Pudding substitute.....

Dang, it seems like the general consensus for MyHoneyChild is that her prods aren't that great...:ohwell: Those are the main ones I want to try...

I like: Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream! This stuff is great...makes hair really soft....

If you figure out the Whipped Pudding, Let me know. I haven't tried an Oyin product that I dont like yet! I know I will order from this company again and again and again.

Qhemet...I only have the Alma and Olive Heavy cream. I dont care for it much at all. I only use it to try to get rid of it. It doesnt agree with my hair. And after all the great smelling stuff from Oyin, the Qhemet smell is really blah and boring. I will not purchase this product again.

I am in love with Oyin's Burnt Sugar Pomade:love: . It's like a hair grease w/ no bad ingreds. It makes my hair shine, shine, shine!!

Yes, I love this one too. And it smells soooooo good! Great for when I wear my hair pulled back in a bun. (which is most of the time. lol)
