I've done both...I'm relaxed now. I think I want to stay this way but you never know. Maybe once I reach my goal I'll get bored and do a BC and go natural again. The fun is in the variety.
You are transitioning: Yes, I started on April 27, 2004.
You plan on going natural eventually: Yes. My goal is to be fully natural by mid-2007.
You are unsure: Yes, only because I never done this before. I'm not scared or worried.
You do not plan on going natural: Yes...this one seemed like a trick question; now that I look at it, I think I chose the wrong answer. I dunno! All I know is I DO plan on going natural.

Yeah Pooh, that last question does seem a bit tricky. I don't remember which one I checked. I know, I know I need some Ginko Biloba for my memory.
I think this is a great survey. I'd also be interested in knowing how many former transitioners there are and the main reason for discontinuing the transition.
I guess I shouldda clarified the last q. I meant you are not natural now and dont plan on going natural....
thanks for the compliment on the survey! I tried to word it right and include all the poccilbe choices! Maybe I shouldda stuck an "other" in there for any optiosn I missed!
Last year when I was transitioning, I gave in at 16 weeks after enduring weeks of tangling and knots. But my last touch-up was spaced out at 11 weeks and I had absolutely no problems at all (tangles and crap), compared to last year.
I just texturized late last year. I definately plan on going natural again. I miss my hair, but I'm really close to my goal on midback...well kind of close, so I'll do it after that.
Not scared at all. Was frustrated by lack of length, and reverting quickly, but now I even miss that sometimes. Ah well c'est la vie!
I'm natural and I am staying that way. I had enough of the perm, 8 years to be exact. I love how my hair is now and don't wanna spoil it. Eventhough my hair has tested my patience a LOT of times but I never think of going back, just maybe change the style i wanted to do.
Can't wait until i get the whit natural hair when i get older. I think it looks lovely on older women. A natural blonde
I transitioned for 19 months. i loved my natural hair feel, look , thickness but reverted within 5 minutes because it's cottony soft. I plan on texturizing 2 times per year. Probably when I am older, i will cut it off and go natural as I can't imagine relaxing for the rest of my life. I know that at some point, a short afro will be most appealing to me but I am not ready for short hair just now.
I'm 100% natural, and have been that way for around seven or eight years. I'm at the point where I'm thinking of texturizing, though. I like my hair but I'm getting bored of it. The longer it gets, the more it shrinks (and looks the same length), so I personally feel there's no point in growing out my hair any longer unless I'm willing to spend a lot of time twisting (which I'm not) or I texturize it so it will show more of its length. I love my hair when it's 75% dry, but when it's 100% dry it almost looks like it did a year ago.

I transitioned many years ago and was natural for 8 yrs. I thought I would be natural for life, but my hair didn't thrive like I thought it would/should in it's completely natural state b/c I was using direct heat. The longest it got was 17" and it took hours to negotiate, and shortest I've gotten to is 12" (damage, breakage, trimming). I think being natural is much, much easier when your hair is under 10". Once you get beyond a foot of hair managability becomes a big issue and a major challenge. Before being natural the longest my hair had been was 19" inches. So I lost 7+" transitioning and being natural.
Now I know even more about managing natural hair, so maybe if I could rollerset my hair and get it to be smooth and straight, I might consider being natural again.... but no, I'm happy texturized
. I have options and don't have to worry about my hair getting in the way of my whims like I have in the past.
i'm relaxed. i haven't had a retouch since january 15th. could it be i'm transitioning and don't know it? lol! i'm gonna get it done on friday but haven't decided whether to relax then or not.
100% natural ~ would never go back to relaxing. I fell in love with my hair texture. Would be extremely happy once my hair reaches the 12 inch mark, hopefully this year.
