Funny enough I said I didn't like the rain and my hair, but yesterday it rained so bad people wanted to call Noah. My skirt and shoes were wet, but my braids were just fine. It was one day I didnt have to worry about humidity.
I also drive down the highway with the windows open. (don't have to worry about the style).
Imagine what it will be like COMPLETELY natural.
girl, i love NOTHING more than the wind blowing through my twistout!!!! its a beautiful feeling!!! the last time i did it i was like, "alright THATS IT! i need me a convertible!!!"

I cosign with balisi!! Plus, talk about low maintenance!
This morning, I got up with 'bed head' and all I did was spritz some water on it and pulled it back with a scarf and VOILA!!

Agreed. Water is my natural hair's best friend. All I have to do to revive my hair is to throw some water on it. It's the best!

Everyone that has commented truly inspiration and i can relate so much to what all of you are saying...i tried to go natural at the beginning of this year..but went and relaxed again..and my hair did the same that it usually does(by getting damaged and finally breaking off) i now kind of see why my mom always stuck with having a curl even though its still a chemical but it was much easier for her to take care of than having a relaxer....im beginning to think that it may be the same way for me...ive been really contemplating going natural and you ladies by what you have said have made it easier for me to decide....i think one lady from ATL said tht she is unique with being natural...i think it would be something unique and different and show my individuality from the next woman if i was to do this...i live in South Florida and so theres endless of what i call the "ghetto hairstyles" and the permed and bonded in hair styles..i really want to do this this time thank you everyone for the inspiration....so far i havent relaxed my hair since May 2005...and im transitioning with doing braids...

I can always have silky, straight hair with a blow dry or press. I don't see any reason to permanently straighten my hair since I've learned how to make my natural hair look pretty.

You know that we are all here to support you.:)

thanks so much Mecca :) i just actually told my mom this last night that i was thinking of going natural..i dont know how much she believed me because ive really been thru major phases with my hair in the past(cutting, breakage etc) and sometimes when she hears me say natural she thinks im saying dreads...and i know how much she hates dreads...but no i told her all im trying to do is just grow my hair out(healthy and strong) and stay away from the chemicals and just try to work with my own hair...and like caligirl mentioned that she can always get her hair blow dryed and press if she wants straight hair....:)

I went natural about 10 days ago. I agree, being natural is much easier and a lot more fun than I imagined. I feel so free and whole and I know it is still early but I don't feel stressed out about styles. I am taking my time getting to know and love my twa and I can always count on support from the natural ladies on this board. You would be surprised @ the freedom and joy you will feel. If you do decide to go natural.

I'm echoing everyone's else's thoughts:

I just love the way my hair feels!! Soft, curly, doesn't snap off, it springs back to life. It's beautiful!!

I love the new growth!

I love the curls! REPEAT . . . LUV THE CURLS!!

I love knowing how my hair is going to respond!

I forgot what my natural hair looked like!

Best of all . . . I love not being a slave to beauticians (and the lack of respect for my time - 5 hours at the shop is ridiculous!!), relaxers, frequent trimmings (cuts!) when I didn't need them, and people telling me that I needed a touch-up!! :lachen:

I don't need a touch-up anymore! ;) :p

WOW!! 10 years of going natural is a great inspiration. I bet your hair is very pretty.

I've been natural for 8 weeks now and I'm loving it. :yay: The only thing is when people approach me they ask "Are you mixed?" or "Do you have a texturizer in your hair?" :ohwell: I just tell them no and that this is my natural hair and I'm black. :yep:

Do any of you ladies get responses like this now that you are natural?

I think you misread my post. I have only been natural for about 10 days  not 10 years. I wish. My hair is pretty now and it's about an inch long and I have never been happier with my hair. I bet your hair is lovely too. As for the silly questions people ask about your hair, just ignore it. Alot of people ask stupid questions when they are mesmerized by a thing of great beauty.

:lachen: Opps. 10 days is still an inspiration. :weird: Sorry about that.
