This video is to show how a trim can go wrong from start to finish. I hope that someone learns from this or remind them why is important to either DIY or get out of the salon if your gut is telling you to; don't be afraid to speak up and demand the service you requested!! is your money and salons need you/us :yep:. I feel so sorry for this lady, I've seen her videos before so when I found out what happened to her I was :perplexed.

I did a search to the best of my abilities and didn't find a post about this BUT if this is a double post by all means delete!

Aw man. You can hear the hurt in her voice. I don't understand these stylists (and I'm a stylist) that cut natural hair wet. You can't be serious. And then saying you love her hair but then say she has good hair in the back and then proceed to hack her hair off. Huh?

@5:40 The woman was right. She said that the stylist should have straightened it or blown it out before cutting it. I am natural and the only time I cut my hair is when I blow it out and flat iron it. There is no way you are going to get an even cut if you cut it in its natural state especially if you have really tight coils you have to tug at to cut.

Also when straighten it you can see damage better because 4a/b coily hair will show damage well compared to it in its natural state.

I've been there before which is why i don't get my hair trimmed anymore.. most stylist give you a cut or try to make you hair even like its relaxed... smh..

I thought that it was common knowledge that if your hair is curly, you had to straighten it in order to trim. When I trimmed my hair for the first time as natural, I wash and DC as normal but I flat-ironed my hair. I went to my neighborhood Hair Cuttery per suggestions made on this board. When I sat on the chair, the stylist asked me "1 or two inches?"...I gave her "The Rock's eyebrow" as soon as she said that  then, I proceeded to tell her exactly what I want and she did exactly that...matter of fact, I thought that she didn't cut enough but I was determined to not have another horror story. I am planning on going to her again this winter.

Somebody did me the exact same way. Poor boo.

OMG my heart goes out to her.... THAT scared the snott out of me seriously. I was just thinking heyyyyyy I need a trim. Oh no ma'am. Not after seeing that. (I'm moving towards shoulder/cbl now and I wanted a trim.... however I don't think that will be happening soon....) OMG I just wanted to cry with her. :( :nono:

Im subscribed to her on youtube, but I haddnt seen this vid. Poor soul. as someone said before, u can really hear the hurt in her voice.

Poor woman. I'd be pissed too. The stylist is dumb. With the amount of shrinkage natural hair is known for why would she cut it wet an shrunk up?

I'm a subbie as well and I feel awful that she lost so much progress due to a trim that was actually a cut. Also for the sytlist to say that the Good Hair is in the back...I mean like really???:perplexed It's a shame that if you want a true trim you have to visit a YT salon. My heart goes out to her.

I will never ever let a hair stylist even come near my hair with scissors in hand after seeing this video. I just got so upset at seeing that woman driving home with a jack up haircut when all she wanted was a trim. I hope she didn't pay her for the "service" she was given. The poor woman looks like she has two totally different lengths going on now.
That "stylist" knew she was wrong for cutting off those beautiful locks in jealousy.

I feel this girl's pain. Even if her hair had been straightened, the lady would probably have hacked off all she did anyway. I that happen to me. Stylists are just evil.

Jealous stylists get everyone...from natural to relaxed. I feel so badly for her. I know what it's like to lose progress at someone ELSE'S hand. And for the backhanded "good hair in the back" comment?

UGH

Some people can wear locs, afrocentric garb as FAR as the eye can see and STILL are brainwashed!

For some reason I can't see what video was posted, only the op's post talking about the video. Can someone please post it for me, please and thank you.

And that's why I am never going to let a "stylist" near my head with a pair of scissors. I will be trimming my own hair because these people are a freaking joke.

Other posters say that you should only get your hair trimmed while it's straight, but that's not true. There is a technique for cutting very curly/coily hair without straightening. Zhara is one natural with gorgeous hair who gets trims (actual trims) regularly and never straightens.

I agree. Since I mainly wear my hair in it's natural state, I prefer to trim in the same state so I'll know what my hair looks like. The stylist in the video chopped off ALOT of hair. It looked like she chopped off at least 2 inches in it's curly state which is equivalent to a lot more when straightened. I believe her hair would've been chopped off whether straight or natural.

Zhara is a member on here? I want to learn her method because I want to trim my hair but am terrified of heat (for now) so I don't want to straighten

A 4"trim is what lead me to LHCF..I went from full APL relaxed hair to bottom of NL on the blink of an eye.I did NOT want her to trim but she PROMISED only 1"..showed me how much hair she was cutting....This lady in the video is alot calmer than I was! and I cant even say oh shes jealous..Shes a Dominican stylist with WL hair!
