i apply castor/avocado oil on hair. then i tension method on low heat.
my hair was so soft and not so much breakage, very few. next time I will use avocado/safflower oils.
the only time I had breakage was when I used a comb attachement ¬¬

Recently I've found that after on washing day and when I'm done with all the conditioner and hoopla is its best to stretch it by twists or braiding, that when I go back like a day or two my hair is just as stretched with no breakage....and I'm 4b sl

@ the bolded: absolutely! Don't speak defeat has a great tutorial on how to blow dry with a comb attachment. She explains how to start at the roots, and she even points out common mistakes. She does it on natural 4b hair. Her daughter has beautiful natural extra long 4b hair. Let me find it.

Ok, so here it is! Start at 1:55 on this video. Before that she was using a brush, and then she uses the comb attachment.

I was just going to recommend this video. It's a great tutorial for natural AND relaxed heads (I'm relaxed and like using her method).

Dear Ladies,

I am 4a/4b (sparse 3cs) (fine) and I used to have that problem and was very against blowdrying. Whenever my hair was blow dried by myself or I would get my hair blow dried at a salon, my hair would always look frizzy. I thought at the time that this was healthy for my hair but I always get single stranded knots and dryness.

My ah ha moment was when my hairdresser last year, used the tension method to blow dry my hair and I was instantly stunned. I never knew there was a difference. I always assumed that that brush/tension method was for women with straighter or curlier textures. The ends were not frizzy but bone straight and he used a heat protectant. Since that time, I can tell you that I do not suffer from tangled ends, dryness or SSKs anymore.

I do a shampoo/steam conditioner treatment once every two weeks. I use no other heat except the blow dry tension method. My hair has been doing very well.

Best,
Almond Eyes

Redken Satinwear 02 blow dry lotion really reduces breakage while blow drying with comb attachments. Its a life saver. It is not a be all product for 4b for preventing ends snapping of course because there are a lot of other variables to blow drying hair
