NATIONAL LHCF CONFERENCE????

An older man once said, that you should always go to the next level and never be content where you are. In saying that isn't it time to plan a conference within the next 2 years? The board has grown so much in the past years and will continue to grow. There are so many people in different areas trying to meeting in there regions, that it would make sense to plan a huge conference to discuss the following

1. Hair Care
2. Vitamins Regimins
3. Diet/ Exercise (As related to Hair Care)
4. Relax or Natural
5. Protective Hairstyles

I think that it would be fun to plan a conference for everyone not only to meet in person but to network. I may be reaching, but I think that planning this would be so much fun and educational for everbody. What do you think?
 
i agree..i am defintly down to see a confrence go down...i think it would be great for all of us women of color getting together for something we mutually love.....great suggestion!! count me in!!
 
Two years sounds good. That gives everyone enough time to reach their goals.
 
Yeah that sounds like a good idea...where would we have it smack dab in the middle of the U.S.? since everybody lives in so many places?

I was thinking about this the other day after seeing how everyone meets in their states. This would be great.
 
This is really starting to expand here. First local, then national. One day it can go global!!!
 
My understanding that the conference will be the cruise planned in 2005. Are you suggesting a second event? If so it should be located somewhere where the majority of members live and these members should be willing to give room and board to members who don't reside there.
 
I remember seeing post about the cruise but really did not read it because I have a phobia of deep water. But if that is a National Conference then I will suck it up and try to go. I am talking about something along the lines of the conferences that National African-American organizations have like, National Society of Black Engineers, Black Accountants, Black Nurses, Skiiers, etc. where we not only learn, but get to network. This would include sponsors such as Health Food Stores, Hair Care companies, people to give out samples of their products, there are small hair shows from the Members who have benefit from this site, fashion shows, and a huge party. There could be videos sold on doing straw set, roller sets, braid outs, anything that would help financially to continue this site. Of course it would have to be in a state that could accommodate all wanting to go, hotel rates, flights, conference centers, tourist attractions, etc. I was thinking about the following cities/states;

1. North Carolina
2. Virginia
3. New Orleans, Louisiana
4. New Jersey
5. Florida

As said if the cruise is going to be a National Conference, are there packages and payment plans so that someone like me can go ahead and start planning?
 
elaine that sounds wondeful!!, i would rather not go on a cruise though..id rather meet in another state....i dunno but these r great suggestions..
 
Great idea. Count me in. By that time I should be debt free and have my own business. Plus, I live in Charlotte, NC (hint hint) so that will be a great city. Plus, I wanted to visit Virginia (Virginia Beach) and I would love to go to New Orleans but whatever you decide let us know.

I'm excited already.

That's a great idea! LA is a great place to meet, also there is so much to do here...I know I'm hinting but so what!!!!LOL
 
I appreciate everyone being so enthusiastic, but I think the decisions are to be made by the moderators. You know conferences are only as successful as those who plan them. The sponsors have to be contacted, bids have to be submitted, the time of year considered. I think it is best to have in June because there are no holidays, most people in college are out for the summer, many people schedule vacations during that time, etc. Many of you have cities in mind and they are all great suggestions, but again, the decisions would be up to the moderators.
 
This idea sounds good to me, and when I think conference, I think Las Vegas.

NO city is more accommodating, with cheap group room rates, cheap flights, tourist attractions, and there are meeting rooms to host as many people as we need.

Vegas is my vote. Of course I will probably go to whichever city gets chosen. Although, if we have it the same year as the cruise, I'll most likely just get my cruise

i do not live in the US but would like to attend, it would be nice if we could have an international conference
 
lets hope we can really get this on the ball, like June of 2005 after Memorial but before Independence day?
 
That would be awesome! I'm supposed to graduate in june of 2005 (assuming I don't stay for any reason, like coterming). It would be like a graduation present to myself! Also I should be at my goal length by then. Oh man, that would be soooo much fun to meet all you ladies. I better start saving now...
 
I really like this idea. I should be at my goal by then although I don't really know what my goal is. I'll set it after my next relaxer or the next time my hair is semi straightened.
