Name Your Best LOC, LCO Combo!!

What is your most moisturizing LOC, LCO, LOCO combination, ladies? Inquiring minds want to know. This is an awesome method for moisturizing and sealing hair. It starts with your liquid moisturizer, sealed in with a water based cream or lotion, then sealed in another level with your best oil or butter. L= liquid, O = Oil, C = cream. I'll share mine later. I think the LOC term is coined by Chicoro.

What has been working best for me is lightest to heaviest so LOC:

Liquid: Aloe vera juice mixed with conditioner & coconut oil, safflower oil, castor oil, grape seed oil. I make it into a runny consistency since I do not want it to be thick or creamy at all.

Oil: Coconut oil so far but I may buy some Vatika oil this week. I ordered a 16 oz bottle of castor oil which is on the way and I plan to start using a castor/coconut oil mix.

Cream: Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme although the ingredients are not the best and it's expensive. I need to try something else because once I open my second 16 oz jar it won't last until the BOGO.

After I LOC on wet hair, I put my hair in a Goody Spin Pin bun shown here: http://youtu.be/YY8Q2zKA67U

At night I put my hair in 6 - 8 chunky twists. I redo the LOC process at least every 3 days. On dry hair I also wear a bun but my hair is stretched from the twists: shown here: http://youtu.be/-bUy31Vy6rM

I love this method! I only have to moisturize my hair every 2-3 days when I do it this way.

Liquid: Water

Oil: Coconut oil or sweet almond oil. (Castor oil on the ends only if its winter.)

Cream: Qhemet Biologics AOHC (winter) or BRBC (summer), Bee Mine Luscious Cream Moisturizer

I LCO for the most part. I add extra steps, so technically its LCOB/P.

My Method:
Liquid- Komazacare Califia or Aloe My Hair Moisturizing Spray:lick::lick::lick:

Cream- Any Darcy's Botanicals Moisturizer :lick:

Oil- Grapeseed Oil:lick:

(Optional)Butter-Dont have a staple butter as of yet or Pomade-Claudies Tiffani Ceramide Pomade :lick:

Liquid - Soultanicals Hair Sorrell
Cream - Any Soultanicals moisturizer, but ATM, I'm loving Knot Sauce mixed with Fluffalicious
Oil - Hairitage Jar of Joe or Avocado Cloud

Since the beginning of my HHJ, I’ve always used LCO after DCing. My best combo to date is:

Liquid: Any water remaining after rinsing the DC

Cream: DB Daily Leave-in/SSI Avocado Conditioner/SSI Pomegranate Conditioner

Oil: Castor Oil Mix (castor, almond, hemp seed, macadamia, pumpkin, sesame, vitamin E)

Now that my hair is shorter:

L - water
O - grapeseed, sweet almond, castor, or jojoba oil
C - Tresemme naturals AV and avocado
O - more of above

Still working on my HG combo, but right now I'm diggin':

L: 3 parts water + 1 part glycerin
O: an old whipped mango butter mix...can't remember what's in it unfortunately :ohwell:
C: KBB Sweet Ambrosia

I'll probably play around a bit more with the "C" phase, as I've been meaning to try SM Restorative Conditioner as a leave in. I just got hype and ran to get the KBB when I learned it was in my Target.

ETA: I'm 100% PSing right now, so I usually just cornrow or mini bun in quadrants after every (weekly) wash & DC. I baggy nightly and wig during the day. I'm about to install extension braids for a while and start moisturizing daily (assuming things don't get too sticky before wash day), as my sides and nape tend to dry out quickly when the baggy slides.

L - hydrolyzed keratin/water mix
O - shea moisture baby oil rub or kinky curly perfectly polished
C - shea moisture coconut & hibiscus curl & style cream or shea moisture raw shea butter restorative conditioner
O - shea moisture head to toe baby ointment.

s'what i use.

I've tried many combinations and products but my hair loves this the best.....

L: aloe vera juice, water, few drops of almond oil

Oil/Cream: (I mix them together in my hand and apply)
-O: grapeseed, evoo, castor oil, almond, jojoba (mixed in a bottle)
-C: Paul Mitchell, the conditioner

Liquid: Qhemet Biologics BRHC

Oil: Coconut oil!!!

Cream: Qhemet Biologics AOHC

I didn't know there was a name for it. But, I wonder if it counts as LOCO. Today, after washing and conditioning my hair, I applied Jamaican black castor oil on my edges. Does that count as LOCO? Or, does it only pertain to roots and ends?

ETA: Or, perhaps, unknowingly, I'm doing a water (L), BRHC, (C), coconut oil (O), AOHC, (C), method.

Liquid - Filtered water

Cream - KCKT (wash days only) & QB BRBC (daily); QB BRBC (daily)

Oil - EVOO

ETA:
"can you ladies please post exactly how you style your hair after you LOC?"

OP, my method is LCO and it works for my fine 4a/4b strands. I haven't seen that version mentioned in this thread yet. After I LCO on wash day, I braid my hair in 8-10 sections so as to stretch it and airdry. Once my hair is completely dry, I two-strand twist in medium sized twists. I wear them pinned up for the week.

Am I being slow? Wouldn't the oil keep the cream from absorbing?

BEAUTYU2U This is my rationale:

I use an oil that penetrates the strand over time (Coconut). My initial Liquid (SCurl) will moisturize the strand immediately. The cream (NTM) that is put on top of the oil will moisurize the strand as the oil penetrates, thus giving me lasting moisture without the need to reapply before my next poo session (2x a week). It may sound wacky, but this is how my mind was able to wrap around the concept.

I style my hair according to how I want it that day. I may puff it. Or, I twist it for twist outs a few days later. If I twist it, I place a bobby pin at the root/starting point of my twist to stretch it more and upon finishing the twist, I stretch the twist and pin it with another bobby pin. Then, I place my hair in my satin scarf and call it a day.

I'm afraid I may not be much help, as I'm currently sporting a TWA. But after rinsing with water in the morning, I apply a little oil (this morning I applied sweet almond oil) then I apply a small amount of the conditioner, and then run a little more oil through my hair - LOCO. I don't really do much more than that to style it, because I'm just wearing my curly little fro.

When my hair was longer I would rinse with water, add oil, then a cream (at the time I was using QB AOHC) and then comb through my hair to do a low bun or french braids to protect my ends.

HTH! :)

Liquid: Everyday Shea Unscented and Unrefined Shea Butter Conditioner, glycerin and distilled water
Cream: Texas Natural Supply Lotion Creme Base I and glycerin
Oil: Blue Magic Coconut Grease

I twist my hair and cover with a satin cap. In the morning, release for a twist-out. At night, repeat LCO.

Repeat until next wash day...

I live and work in Abu Dhabi, UAE. I teach in the public school any my uniform is wearing abayas and scarves over my hair daily. I hated this at 1st but my hair is 100% protected 5 days a week. I do the loc method every other night then seal my ends. When I don't loc I do the greenhouse effect. On the weekends (Friday& Saturday) I wash n go then loc. here's a pic of how I wore my hair today.

i wear a bun parted down the middle of my crown for the most part. i apply my products, sweep and smooth down the sides and back, and bun using spin pins.

if i wear my hair down, the moisturizing spray is so light, i can quickly mist my hair and it dries instantly. (i don't drench or wet my hair with it) i will spray an oil sheen or a hair polish.

Best: water, moisturizing spritz (mixture of rosewater and coconut oil) and then aloe vera to seal. Or water, spritz and whipped ends leave in. I prefer the first because it's lighter and my hair is usually able to retain moisture if I make sure Wash Day is carried out properly. If I'm REALLY lazy, I just run my wet hands through my hair while showering and just seal with a dime worth's coconut oil. All three methods work great for me.

Worst: Water, olive oil, any conditioner used as a leave in. Hot mess that looks greasy but feels parched at the same time. :nono:

FTR, I consider myself to have high porosity hair as a result of a colouring service but my hair behaves as though it's medium porosity due to my regimen.

Mine is quite simple. I bun 99% of the time, so generally after I LCOB/P I'll put in in a low twisted pony and go to sleep (I do this at night) and in the morning I just throw it into a bun lol.

The way I style my hair depends on the season. In the winter I keep my hair under wigs so I moisturize my hair with the LOC method while in cornrows every 2-3 days.
During the warmer months when wearing my hair out I do the LOC method at night when setting my hair for a given style. I'm a bit style challenged so I keep it simple with braidouts and twistouts that usually go up into a bun during the day.
Also I apply liquid, cream, and then oil. Always have since I learned about moisturizing and sealing from this board.
