I have read the threads re: these products. But how do you ladies use them and what is the nightly/daily maintenance? Right now I have the Carribbean activator and the Type 3 cream.

Ok... I've found that this stuff makes my hair super soft.... which is good, but in this humidity down here, it causes frizz. I might have to try this stuff again when I go home to visit family in Michigan and then see what happens.

Anyway, I use the Type creams either on wet hair after a conditioner wash or at night as a night treatment. OR I'll put it on my hair before a run (I am a runner) to protect my hair from the elements and the inevitable salt residue I'll get from sweating.

I use the Caribbean Hair activator on wet hair ONLY after a conditioner wash when I want curl definition.

Hope that helps!

Are the TYPE creams worth the price? It's $25 which is pretty pricey--does a little go a long way or are you finding that you are using it up fast?

I'd say a little does go a long way. I'd say if I was using this daily (which I'm not), I could go at least 4 months with the 16 oz. container. It's really rich.

I use the herbal hair cocktail, caribbean activator and type 3 cremé. I use the herbal hair cocktail daily. The caribbean activator and type 3 cremé I primarily use when I'm wearing my hair down. I use the type 3 occasionally on my nape when I have it in a bun/ponytail. A little of the cremé goes a very long way. :)

What purpose do you feel those serve--namely the herbal hair cocktail and the type 3 creme.

Would you say the type 3 is better than say, Elasta mango butter, shea butter, etc.?

according to krika the cocktail helps with porosity control. I did not like the mango butter by Elasta QP so I cant really compare them

Xcellence is right. The herbal hair cocktail is for porosity control. It helps to make my scab hair feel softer and more normal. It can also be used as a detangler.

The type 3 cremé is 25% moisture, 75% control. It helps my hair feel soft and moisturized but it also calms down the little flyaways that I have around my hairline and nape. The type 2 formula is 50 % moisture and 50% control; type 4 100% moisture. For me, the type 3 formula is better than Elasta's mango butter. I've never tried shea butter; it looks too heavy for my hair.

If you have questions about what's right for your hair, send Krika an email and pics of your hair and she can make product recommendations for you. She answers you back extremely fast. :)

I didn't like the Elasta mango butter either! ;)

I emailed her and she recommended Type 4 (moisture) and Herbal Hair Coctail for frizz. I emailed her again and asked about protecting ends and she recommened the Aloe Vera Leave In. So I might order at some point and check 'em out! ;)

I am loving Oyin right now btw. Whipped pudding, Greg Juice, and Shine and Define rock! :)

I use the Type 3 creme to moisturize my new growth and to moisturize all of my hair for bantu knot-outs. A little definitely goes a long way. It's one of my favorite products!

LOL.
I LOVE the Oyin stuff. The whipped pudding moisturizes so well (unlike mango butter which doesn't do much for me), smells great (chocolate-like), and can even be used on the body. It feels great being smoothed through wet or dry hair. The Greg Juice moisturizes well too and helps to "refresh" my hair I guess you could say. The Shine and Define serum worked for my "wash and go" and I can use it every night to keep it up as well. Also worked great on brushing edges up for a ponytail or bun after I set it with a scarf (normally I would use hairspray or gobs of gel). So that's my mini-review! :) Oh yeah and the honeysticks lip balms are great too!

If anyone wants to try the type 3 creme, I have abrand new 8 oz. jar that I'm selling for $10. It came as part of the 2/3 combo, and she doesn't sell the 8 oz. jar separately. I accept paypal, so you can PM me if interested. :sekret:
