A hooded dryer that I'm sitting under right now....I'm convinved that the college's plugs mess up every friggin cord ever. They all begin to melt, malfunction, or blow up. And the hood dryer is plugged into the surge protector. I moved it out the surge protector and put it in a single outlet....and it's still hott
Be careful! I didnt pay attention to the cord on my blowdryer and it caught on fire one day! Scary stuff
But u bring up a good point OP I didnt to attribute my plug problems to life in the dorms... I lost a couple appliances in pursuit of my degree....glad thats all over lmao...the prices we pay for that piece of paper

It's definitely a fire hazard. You just need to have someone change your end of the cord out to a heavier end. My husband had to do it for my hair dryer. Hubby is an electrician.
