So, while I usually mind my own business (and other peoples hair) I am too happy NOT to show my progress.

I've been relaxed since I was 9.
I've been told that I had bad hair 'cause it didn't do anything.
No 'fro, no curls, just frizz.

So I'm been relaxing, sporting the straight do that really doesn't suit my face at all, for years. I've tried to transition 3 or times, BUT sometimes my buddies on this site made it hard beacuse their hair was shiny, curly and uniformed (Hairlove and Peachtree) and mine wasn't.

But then, I got reallll sick of this.

I was at a party (a 1700 theme) on an island in March.
I left my hotel with a shower cap on my head, it was raining heavily.
I arrived and my hair was fine but it was so humid.
Hence the strained look on my face.

I got real tired so I decided to have it texalaxed instead.
Didn't work, this is after a bunch of scrunching and Mixed Chicks leave-in.

I then did my last transition, intending to go 18 months, I couldn't take more than 14.

Wow, what a relief!

The next day I FREAKED and flatironed! Feb 17,2010

A week later I got it cleaned up by my stylist

I wasn't too happy so I tried KCCC Feb 28, 2010

I felt like I was bald.

Don't get me wrong, I've felt a little improvment during this year but not enough. I mean, most of y'all go from NL to BSL in 2 snaps!

So today I flatironed, just to see, and low and behold, I'm happier than I thought I would be! March 9, 2011

That's my little story that I'd thought would never happen.
It might not be much for you WL out there but I'm pretty impressed.

So, what I am doing right now?
I'm sitting in an argan oil DP overnight because I want my curls back!

A word of advice:
I was strenghtened by my two transition buddies MummysGirl and Foxglove. I really don't think I could've done it without them.It was real good to have them by my side.
So if you decide to transition, get you some strong women with beautiful hair, it really does help when you're ready!

I finally dare to color it, I love my highlights, now I'm thinking maybe I want it darker... or brighter.... It's so much fun to be able to with out worrying about the snap-crackle-pop!

I love highlights too Nina, but my fragile hair can't take the lighter colors. I tried it a few times and my hair rebelled.

I'm glad it works for you, because it looks very pretty :yep:

It's beautiful Nina!!

You have some awesome skills with the flatiron (I'm speaking from experience).
I love the curls better though

Looks wonderful. Congratulations on your growth. Like both the KCCC look and the straight look.

What did you do to your hair and how did you wear it from Feb 2010 until recently? Just curious.

I am trying to enjoy my hair and not focus on the length so much but some days it seems very difficult.

Hey twin! It seems like forever since we chopped. You've made amazing progress!

Yes girl Yes! I'm happy that you were able to get over the little funk that I think we all go through when being natural for the first time LOL - That BC is a life changer that's for sure. Your hair is looking happy and healthy these days and that's all becasue of you.

Keep up the good work!
