My last hair question of the day, does heat help?

Does appying indirect heat to my hair (like with plastic bag and a heat cap) after applying oil like castor oil or MTG Oil help stimulate blood flow to the scalp.

Does it help, hurt, or does nothing at all?
ETA: hmm did a youtube search didn't realize i was describing a hot oil treatment ha ha ha i am losing it, my cornrows are too tight

i think it helps the oil get absorbed into the hair and scalp. hth
