My hair is a mess

Learning how to braid is not a quick process. Many woman had someone to practice on as youngsters; I practiced on my sister. She could do cornrows and I could only do frenchbraids as a youngster.

Some on the other hand learned from watching and practicing.

I have a 12YO daughter and it took me years to get parts and cornrows to the where I am now.

It doesnt help you to keep saying you cant do something, how about saying "this is difficult for me now."

What Mook does are cornrows not a frenchbraid.

You have to keep practicing, because remember practive makes perfect. How about you do plaits for now so you can cut down on SSK.

Ok I know it sounds extra bad the way I explained it but it is how it is lol Let's just say I have 3 fingers on each hand so learning how to braid is out of the question. I've tried the youtube videos and french braided a straight-haired mannequin awhile ago but would never think I could do it to my own head like how Mook and others do.

Just because you don't THINK you can do something, doesn't mean you actually can't. TRY and PRACTICE instead of just expecting to be a failure. Jeez.

The way you explained things is NOT the way it is. It's the way you're viewing them right now.

Change your thinking!

Practice braiding your own hair (PS i wasn't talking about french braids or cornrows, i'm talkin regular three strand braids for braidouts) and you will get better at it!

Did you want help and ideas or did you just want to vent/complain?

You're getting great ideas from the girls here but you're negating each one.

I am positive that if you switch up your attitude you'll switch up your hair.

PS also try switching your products if they're not moisturizing enough for you.

Good Luck to you.

Anyhoo unless I use like gel my hair is fine. Last night I clarified, used porosity control, put on some mimosa honey and then put the organix pomegranate conditioner over that then rinsed it out this morning. Then I put KO SBL and mimosa honey over that and this is how it looked 12 hours later. Oh yeah and Tui hair oil.

This is gorgeous, girl!

You should not relax damaged hair.

i agree^^^

here is what i did to my hair when it was damaged beyond repair.

-trim the ends.

-deep condition with a reocnstructor like aphoghee 2 step. then follow with a deep moisturizing conditioner.

-after the initial aphoghee, WEEKLY do a light protein treatment for 15 mins with heat like Emergencee followed by a moisturizing condish like Humectress for another 15 mins with heat. (use plastic cap. sit under dryer)

-wear protective styles.

-dust the ends again every 3-4 weeks (DUST, not TRIM)

this regimen should show improvement in 4 weeks. your should be smooth sailing in 3-4 months. 6 months -1 year from now you will have a different head of hair.

i have followed this program time and time again when i have damaged my hair due to relaxers, color, heat, lack of care....whatever. i do this regi every time i have issues over the years. the products have changed, but the regi remains the same.

here are some prods i have used just for reference:

deep initial treatment of protein -i always start with aphoghee 2 step the first week and repeat in 6 weeks if necessary. this step never changes.

weekly protein - Emergencee by Nexxuss, CAT REconstructor by Redken, APhoghee 2 minute, Lekair Cholesterol (this was in high school when i dyed my hair blond....yeah, blond.)
Fermodyl, some Dominican poroduct in a vial...forget the name. Hask Placenta. Loreal Hair Fixer. Elasta QP Protein Reconstructor. Nexuss Keraphix. Keracare Restorative Mask
Emergencee was my fav. CAT Reconstruct was second. Elasta is third.

weekly moisture condish - Mayonaisse, yes hellman's mayo. the kind you eat, Vo5 Hot oil treatment, ORS mayonaisse, Nexuss Humectress, Redken moisture condish, i forget the name, HAIRveda Stirnillah, Bio Infusion Olive Oil condish from Walgreens, Keracare Humecto, Dudley's condish i forget the name.

hpe this helps!

Ok I'm going to try to change everything. I can do regular french braids but I thought my issue with the ssks was because of the loose styles. Any suggestions on products because I have a major stash. ill pick up some two-step also.
