Ditto! I was shocked when I first read your post. I still feel for you, and if it's any consolation I'm sure your grandmother was only doing what she thought was best, trying to help that is. Hey at least you didn't go to some stylist and think you were getting a trim only to find out you paid for a big chop!

Pebbles/Nessa --- she volunteered because she was tired of my complaining about my ends.....They look better, but I think she took off a bit too much.....

I have a problem with thinning ends also, are there any products that can help with this? other than having to resort cutting or stop brushing it all together?

Thanks,,Ladies. I hope you learn from my mistake while you are on your haircare journies......

My cousin told me she felt wrapping the hair so often would eventually thin it out... I should've listened,,but it was just too convenient.....Oh Well....All I can do at this point is continue to take good care of my hair and be patient. Hey, I'll just keep it in a bun,,,so no one will notice....

Sherry,

I hope at least that she did a neat job...
I also wanted to share this with you: While I was in college, I had a friend whose hair was just growing like wildfire(like you) and she kind of did a bootleg wrap thing at night when she tied her hair up. I've done it several times myself and it's a great alternative to wrapping because it does leave your hair with some "shape" in the morning if you know what I mean. I hope I explain this adequately.

*Gather your hair into a low ponytail using your hand (nothing needed to secure the pony)

*While still holding the base of the pony with one hand, use the other hand to bring the ponytail around the side of your head (as if wrapping the ponytail only)

*Press and smooth the ponytail to the side of your head using your hand.

*Tie it up for the night.

I hope it makes sense.

Sherrylove,

Four inches is not that bad. It will grow back in no time. Your hair will be even more prettier and fuller. I stopped wrapping my hair every night. It was causing my hair to thin. I try to stay away from straight styles. You are still beautiful.

i am so sorry about your hair again. I would be mad though. But from what you said it was probably a good cause.

Hey SherryLove

I just want to say your hair is sssooo beautiful!!! and I bet it looks just as healthy, thick and nice and as everyone has already said will grow back in no time.

I too used to wrap my hair every night, I tried alternating every other week but my edges still thinned out, first it was one side and then I would nurse it back to health and then the other side would start . I am not wrapping my hair every day anymore, maybe for just fifteen minutes after I roller set but that is it, from now on it is all about the protective style until I can learn something else to do with it that wont cause thinning on my edges.

I will try the other versions of wrapping that have been suggested. Sorry for being so long winded!

Sherry,

Your hair is beautiful and will grow back before you know it. I know it hurts to lose inches, but I'm sure in a few weeks you'll be relieved to have gotten rid of those last few inches that were meaning that even if ever so slightly, you weren't able to totally enjoy your hair. You still have TONS of STUNNING hair to play with, and what you had removed will be gone in NO TIME.

Hang in there and make this a good new reason to take extra special care of your hair.

Hi Sherry,
I have been doing what Supergirl describes and it works fine and in my exp the longer my hair gets the better it works so it should def. well on your hair. Don't worry it'll grow back in no time!!

I feel your pain ..

.. 2 weeks ago I went to get my touch-up after 11 weeks. I had mega growth. Needless to say I trusted the hairdresser to trim my hair without looking or saying anything. I came up out of that chair with my hair 8-10 inches and lopsided. My hair was a few inches from bra strap now its on my shoulder/just below my shoulders. She cut 3 inches of my hair - not what I consider a trim. I'm still upset about it. I have vowed to rinse my hair everyday and wear it in a bun until it grows back. Hopefully I will get over it by the end of this month! ..

-- I have learned my lesson!

Your hair is still as beautiful to me as it was the day I joined the board. Just keep up the good work and your hair will be waist length and longer in no time!

Sherry, ive never really wrapped my hair at all ,i dont trim nearly enough as i should, as you can see in my pics i love wearing head gear esp. bandanas, a habit i cant break it seems , and i dont like wearing my hair up because im tall i have a long neck and its makes it look longer lol, maybe that could be my problem with thinning ends but i just cant get with the up do's . BTW your hair is still very beautiful and healthy looking it will grow back faster than you think. Keep your head up, girl!
