Naturallygoldie, What do you think will stop it. He has been wondering about using rosemary to darken them and he also told me that Brahmi grows wild here so I wonder about him using that too. Rosemary oil helped keep my hair dark because the relaxer usually makes it go reddish but I don't know if it will turn light to dark. Plus I know hardly anything about dreads.

psht I wish I knew vkb247! I used to to think the relaxer did it but I've stopped and it continues...BUT since using Coconut oil or Camellia oil it's not getting as bright as it used to be..I mean it used to be BRIGHT

I've know a lot of ppl who's hair changes in the sun and the only thing that stops it is dying it (nooooooooooooooo) or henna. I don't know how one would henna locs since it would be hella hard to rinse out

It wouldn't hurt to use the rosemary and Brahmi

When you have dreads do you automatically retain all of your length?

If it's twisted and taken care of in the proper way then you retain everything...shed hair and all

but if the locs aren't maintained properly they will snap off..sometimes along the loc, sometimes at the root

Not necessarily, esp. if you have a tendency towards having some "loose" hair. If your locks don't "set" you can have them fall apart on you a bit and/or you have to "marry" the loose hair to a lock. In short, a loc'd head w/ a tendency to having loose hair will have loose hair issues IF they don't marry the hair.

I told Miah that you ladies like his locs and he said to tell you "Thank you." He likes the idea of having his locs oiled every night, said that would make him purr like a lion :lachen:

I will ask him how long he plans on growing his hair. He said he started them with finger coils.

ahem...will he let you post pics of his with his hair "out." Was it a wild and curly before? I mean, we just wanna see for educational purposes. :look:

His locs are wonderful. I like the color. But if he wants to darken them, I hear that rinses with black tea or coffee can darken hair some if done semi-regularly.

Off topic: Love love love you hair in your siggy mwedzi.
